I didn't like the feeling of cold concrete against my skin. It reminded me of that room I was trapped in when I had a run in with Better Living. This situation seemed all too familiar.

When I woke up, I was in pain. A lot of it. I let out a groan as I forced myself to sit up, only to be met with the sound of a loaded gun clicking behind me.

"I have to say, I've never had the pleasure of having a Killjoy leader in my company." The voice behind me purred. Slowly, I turned my head around.

Theo? But he was so nice the one time I met him! What happened?

"What's this about?" My groggy voice asked.

"Oh, nothing too much. You were in my territory, and I just wanted to make sure everything was alright with you and your little boy band."

I realized that they were probably in trouble.

'Well shit.'

"Well, last I checked, we were fine. Can I go see them now?" I asked politely, trying to avoid conflict as much as possible.

"I don't know if I have any intention of letting you leave this warehouse." Theo paced around me, twirling his gun in between his hands.

"Why though? I have no reason to be here. Honestly I think you need to leave and re-evaluate your priorities."

Why couldn't I ever hold my tongue.

"I don't appreciate little girls who talk back." Theo warned before crashing his boot into my face. I recoiled in shock, blood splattering out of my nose.

"Fuck you." I hissed, smearing the sleeve of my cardigan with blood as I rubbed my face. Theo let out a cold laugh, making my spine turn cold.

"I'd watch what you say."

So I didn't say anything, I just spat on him. Theo's eyes widened in shock, before bursting into rage.

"You fucking bitch!" He hollered, kicking me in the ribs. I let out a cry as I fell to the floor again, my head hitting the concrete with a sharp thud. Theo grabbed onto a handful of my hair, pulling my neck upwards.

"Let go!" I demanded as he dragged my aching body across the floor by my head. He tossed me to the ground again, his foot pressing into my back. I felt the tip of his gun meet my temple.

"I fucking warned you." He sneered, putting his finger on the trigger. I shut my eyes, preparing myself for the worst.

I heard a gunshot go off, but it wasn't into my brain. The sound echoed through the warehouse, and I felt Theo's boot lift off of my back.

"How the fuck did you get in here?" Theo stammered, talking to a person that I couldn't see. I kept my head to the ground, not in the mood to get shot.

"It seems like we're going to have a bit of a problem here." The voice responded.

Val?

"See," he began to slowly walk towards the man. "From what it looks like, you were about to murder the Killjoy leader, and you know we can't have that." He clicked his tongue.

"Get the hell out of here or I will call my guards." Theo ordered, making Val laugh.

"I think we both know that isn't gonna happen any time soon." He replied, clicking the safety off of his gun. Theo brought his out in return, but then another presence was heard in the room, someone who I didn't recognize.

"Surprise, motherfucker." He spoke, his gun raised to the back of Theo's head. I felt the courage to finally look over at who the stranger was, and I found myself covering my mouth to muffle a scream.
