"Did you sleep well?" Artemis rubs me down on my back and stomach with her human hands as the evening sun glistens in the darkening sky. I just want to keep sleeping but I get up. I decided to stay in wolf form after my second full moon hunt. Which was fantastic, I had cornered some hunters and gave them a good scare but despite my instructions to hurt them, I couldn't bring myself to harm either the red headed girl with elements at her control or the little girl who's eyes shifted from sky blue to white often.

I know them. My human side has been pounding me as I remember rule number 1, never ever think of the past unless it was going to help the pack.

Artemis pats my head, "Did you enjoy the hunt?"

I nod. Then sneak my hand under her hand. I like her touch but some part of it reminded me of that person that I keep seeing. The one with fiery red hair that was brown at the top but red at the bottom.

"I'm glad." Artemis sighs happily and looks at the meadow. The pack has doubled in size and the windmill is almost finished. Mostly everyone got along fine but occasionally there would be some newbie that would challenge to be alpha. Artemis always came out on top. Other than that, we would spend most nights hunting or chase away hunters. And when we were home, I'd walk around the rim of the meadow, checking for hunters, something about it was relaxing, guarding my pack against a possible threat. "I heard the moon last night."

I pick my ears up. Names? Do I finally get one? I wag my tail for showing interest.

"Yes." She lightly kisses my forehead, my human tries to show me that mystery person again, I shove it deep into me and pay attention, "We need more room. Our corner of the world is too small and not to mention the game here is growing scares. Tomorrow at this time will take another forest."

That's a little soon. What about the others who live in, I shake my head and try to quiet my human side, she's the leader.

"I have a war meeting soon, I'll make an announcement tonight," she curls her fingers under my chin with a dangerous look in her eye, "I am trusting you to rally my warriors when a fight comes."  She gets up on her legs as barks and whimpers race to us. Probably someone did something and they needed Artemis to solve it. "And so another day of being alpha begins," She pats my head as she leaves towards the cave, as of last week, it has been off limits except to her and another wolf called Jacob. He definitely was on the bigger end of nasty, his teeth were yellow, his coat is grey with a black undertone. He wasn't much of a talker but he and Artemis always hung around together. Unless I happened to be nearby. "Rest up. You'll need it." She smiles as she and Jacob travel down the cave's mouth.

Well, I'm not just gonna lay here. I get up and start my patrol path as I watch the forest for danger and look at the pack for pleasure. New members are learning tricks of the trade as some wolves play with one another. I feel my paws against the warm dirt as they lead me around the small crystal blue lake next to the windmill. This spot is particularly tricky on how it was made. It almost came to a bottleneck and was on the higher end of the meadow, at the same time, the trees here are much thicker and closer together, barely letting any noise escape it. Still, I think it's the most beautiful part of the meadow. And it felt as homeish as the meadow could get. This is my home. Why can't I associate that word with this place? I stop for a small break near the lake and drink. I pick my head up and look at my reflection, a pure black wolf with grey eyes and a green hair mark stares back at me. I think I've been undersleeping too many nights as my reflections change into my blasted human side.

Oh, you what do you want? I'd pounce the water but that would only make me wet.

My human reflection folds his arms. You know why. Mmories from the human life press into my head.
