I dreaded the next morning I woke up. I had Roland messaging me, two phone calls from Alexei and Carries Facebook post still on my mind. I groaned as I sat up in bed to listen to the voice mail from Alexei.

Hey Rowan. I want to see you today at some point. I miss you so much. Call me when you get this.

Beep!

Hey rowan, it’s me Alexei again. I was looking on Facebook when I saw the picture of Carrie and me. It’s not what it looks like Rowan. Please, please call me when you get this.

Beep!

What a freaking asshole. I know how guys work. They play you and they make you feel like you’re important. The truth is though, you’re not important and you are just a game.

“Please come over Rowan! You’re the only fun person I know anymore.” Roland said to me through the phone.

“Not today, Roland.” I said back to him.

“Come on! Rowan I’m dying here!”

               I know how you feel.

“Sorry little dude. I don’t have a way to get over there.”

“Alexei can come get you!” He argued back.

I let out a loud sigh and closed my eyes tightly.

“I’ll see what I can do.”

“Yes! See you soon.” He said to me before he hung up.

It was pretty cold today. Rain and hail was falling from the sky every five minutes and the wind wasn’t helping anything. I pulled on a dark gray sweater, black skinny jeans, black snow boots mom got me last year, and wore my hair up in a messy bun and the grey ear warmer mom got me this year.

“Mom.” I said walking in her room.

“Yes?” She said to me looking up from her magazine.

“Alexei’s little brother wants me to go over and play some video games with him. Will you be alright here? I will only be there for three hours at the most.”

She nodded with a smile and I kissed her on the cheek.

“Rowan, go ahead and you the car. It’s pretty bad out there today.” She said handing me the keys.

“Thanks mom. If you need me just call alright?” I said to her before walking out of the room.
