Making time to exercise when you first start a routine is somewhat mind blowing.
" I have laundry to do". "I will start tomorrow". "I cant exercise with my kids"."I will cut back calories first then when I reach ? weight Ill start". It's too hot/cold". "I don't have time".
We all make excuses.
Let me ask you this, if your mom called and was broken down in a snow storm would you help? If your best friend was in the hospital on a hot summer day would you visit? If you were invited to a wedding of close friends would you attend? How about your kids or husband what if they need your help do you make time? Or a project for work?
Now I am going to turn this around for you because it took me 44 years and an ocean of tears to get to this place. Start the sentence's each one and add I cant because I am ill, sick, diabetes, overweight, I've had a heart attack or I'M DEAD.
Why is it that we especialy women (the caregivers) give so much of ourselves then become silent sufferes? Do you realy think that if you sat your family down and said "I will die of........ or too young if I dont change my life healthier can I have 20-30 mins 3x a week just for me? Do you realy honestly think they would say NO? If they would then you have much greater issues than you weight.
Take your kids with you!! If they are teenagers you walking, riding, running, jogging around the block and leaving them for 20-30 minutes passing the house close by wont kill them. (assuming they are not medicaly or mentaly special needs. If they are young take them with you teach them how to be healthy write on their flexible slate that you are a healthy family.
Guilt is what gets me. I feel guilty asking anything for myself and I have no idea why? I have to tell you though as the pounds come off and the steps build I feel empowered. Almost like the "runners High" you hear people talk about only I am not running just me and outdoors and a pedometer and a podcast (make your someday today) or pandora (eminem or christina agulara or fergie radio). I am on week 3 of my restart and I am so excieted about this journey.
Start giving as much to yourself as you give to others so you can continue to BE. Be your friend.
