Fate can be Fatal

Part 8: Morning Southside

An extremely hungover Cheryl Blossom awakes and opens her eyes, rubbing them and yawning. She then gets out of bed and walks wearily into the open kitchen, witnessing Toni attempting to make some breakfast. Toni turns around, to see Cheryl standing there. "Morning" Toni says, to which Cheryl replies the same, "I'm trying to make breakfast, but I might admit it's not a talent mine" laughing. Cheryl walk up next to her, looking as what she has laid out. Bacon, eggs, and some bread. "it's all we have" Toni states, "you sit, have some water, I'll do it".

"Toni, I've had years of experience... having to make my own food. You've been ever so kind to give me somewhere to sleep so allow me too" , Toni agrees and takes a seat on her couch. She watches Cheryl adoringly, beginning to make some food but gets distracted by the time, "I'm just going to get dressed" telling Cheryl and heading into her bedroom, making the bed as she did so. 

The moment Toni just started to get dressed, there was a massive thud on the door, followed by laughing. Off the bat, Cheryl gets frightened by the sound, which made her recovering brain rattle. Before she could alert Toni, the door flies open to reveal Sweet Pea and Fangs, who had come looking for Toni after getting missed calls after missed calls  and t celebrate Sweet Pea being able to go back to school after the incident. They notice Cheryl, standing their in their best friends clothes and become suspicious. "What in the actual fuck" Sweet Pea snaps, "Cheryl goddamn Blossom, where's Toni?" he continues as Cheryl stands there in shock, backing up into the corner of the kitchen. 

"Toni! Toni!" Fangs yells, she rushes out in some black jeans and a plaid shirt, half buttoned up, due to this sudden issues, "Guys, calm it, seriously" Toni snaps back. "You've got some explaining t----" but is cut off by Toni, dragging them outside, shutting the door behind them.

The boys say nothing but wait for Toni to start speaking, "She had no where to stay, was drunk off her nut and got kicked out of her home, what was I supposed to do" she begins. 

"She's a Northsider, A fucking Blossom Toni!" Sweet Pea retaliates. 

"They're not all bad" Toni explains. "She's kind, and sincere, and desperately in need of some good company". 

"Look we don't care who you fool around wi----" Fangs starts.

"That's not---we're not" she stutters, "Look I'm going to school with Cheryl today, I'll see you guys there yeah and... don't mention this to Jughead or any of the serpents... got it?" 

"Ok" the boys say in unison, "But don't expect us to warm up to this new... relationship" and with that, they hop on their bikes and head off. 

Taking a large breath of fresh air, she returns inside to Cheryl stood there, "You hear anything?" and shakes her head. "Ok, well we're going to be late. Go put on whatever you want and I'll finish up in here. Cheryl does so and closes the door behind her. Toni plates the food and puts it on the table, and sits down waiting for Cheryl.

A few moments later Cheryl returns, wearing ripped black jeans and a laced black top, with her red jacket from the night before. "Suits you" Toni says, smiling, "Lets eat?"

Cheryl takes a seat opposite Toni and they begin to quickly eat, "Sorry about that earlier, I wasn't calling them back and they usually come over before school" she explains.

"It's nothing, I understand their anger and confusion really. As if they were expecting to see me stood there" and Cheryl chuckles slightly. 

They demolish their meals and realise it's time to head off. "I'll drive?" Cheryl asks, "Yeah" Toni replies as they leave the trailer and hop into the Range Rover outside. 

In daylight the notorious Southside trailer park looked totally different. It was thriving, kids playing in their front gardens, waiting to leave for school, men and women off to their jobs, it wasn't playing into it's given stereotypes of violence and crime at all. To Cheryl, it looked like every other family environment, and felt anger forwards all the other Northsider that for decades, had given it a bad name. "So, you slept on the couch last night?" Cheryl asks softly, keeping her eyes on the road. "Yup, it wasn't that bad, but honestly I was up early this morning anyway" Toni replies as Cheryl pulls up into a spot in the lot at Riverdale High and the girls prepare to head into the building.
