Fate can be Fatal

Part 17: Confrontation

Monday morning arrived, warm and sunny. It was an ideal day to destroy some assholes egos, and make them suffer. Cheryl tried to tell the serpents, especially Sweet pea to not jump to conclusions in case he was completely wrong about Reggie. 

The gang head to Riverdale High and all pull up at the same time. Cheryl riding with Toni on her bike, Sweet Pea and Fangs, Jughead and Betty, all walk inside. For the first time, Sweet Pea led them due to his building anger towards the Bulldogs. Inside they stop by Toni's locker so she could grab some books, hopefully giving Fangs enough time to calm Pea down, they didn't want a fight to break out in the halls.

Suddenly, the same group of Bulldogs that the gang had a confrontation with yesterday strolled past. Fangs had managed to calm Pea, but Reggie walked past and purposely threw his shoulder on Pea's injured arm, setting him off. 

Last night on the gangs way home, Cheryl and Pea were talking about he used to do judo as a kid but had to quit after punching a kid so hard his front teeth were crooked, after the kid insulted the Southside. However, he re-joined a local club a few years back and carried on learning how to defend himself. It was vital in the his neighbourhood. 

Anyway, Pea's hidden talent came in handy at this very moment. Old habits die hard, and Pea grabbed Reggie's forearm throwing him harshly to the floor. Not used to up close violence, Cheryl grabs Toni's arm for safety and watches the fight untangle. 

"The fuck do you think you're doing--  you low life piece of shit" Reggie blurts out, feeling protected on his side of the border this time.

Sweet Pea, who towers over Reggie, squares up to him, "Are you always this much of a ass, or is just when trying to prove your tough shit to all these girls" and the gang eggs him on.

"We know what you did Reggie" Betty follows up with, stepping out from behind Jughead. 

He leans in closer, lowering his voice, "Took you idiots long enough" and encourage the Bulldogs to verbally attack the Serpents. "Have fun proving it".

One Bulldog gets right up in Toni's face, his voice drops to a flirtatious but mysoginistic moan, making both the girls roll their eyes. "Wanna reconsider the team you play for? The Bullldogs would gladly take you in" he says, pulling up his shirt slightly. Without a second thought, Ton i grabs the bottom of his shirt and pulls it down, making him fall painfully to the ground. 

Pea and Reggie are still entangled in an argument when they hear the loud smack on the floor, the students couldn't believe it; a 6,3ft football player absolutely destroyed by a small Southside Serpent. They all begin laughing at the injured player. Despite momentarially feeling bad for him, Toni knew he deserved it.

"So you stabbed me?" Pea repeats himself.

"You deserved it, we should've done it to the lot of you" states Reggie. All of a sudden Jughead smiles, pulling out his phone and ending the voice recording he just took of Reggie. 

"You can forget about Veronicas party this weekend and the after that, and that, and that; you'll be on house arrest until next year" says Jughead, looking smug. 

Before Reggie manages to retaliate, the serpents head off to class, knowing they've finally helped Pea find peace and put this whole issue behind him.

At lunch, Jug and Betty head off to find Archie and Veronica, since they promised to have lunch together last week. Cheryl, Toni, Pea and Fangs take a seat at a table together and begin to chat about their weekend plans. The girls display light, subtle PDA but it still manages to catch the eye of other students, fueling further rumours which the gang laugh about when they hear whispers. 

Thankfully, Cheryl had not heard from the police yet regarding her mother, but was expecting a phone call any day now, and just at that thought occurred Cheryl's phone rings...
