Fate can be Fatal

Part 45: Defeat? and Death

Cheryl falls to the floor, head in her hands. Peas jaw clenches with uncontrollable anger as the serpents race over to the backdoor, but its locked. 

The Northsiders stand in shock, some begin to cry whilst others stand frozen. Kevin leans down and picks up Cheryl. "Look at me Blossom. Don't go jumping to any conclusions, we don't know what's happened. Let's go inside" he offers out a caring hand and the rest of them make their way over to the crowd of Serpents. 

"Fucking kick it down Pea!" Fangs yells, his voice breaking from pain at the unknown fate of their best friend. With one kick, the glass door shatters into pieces and they swarm the house. Pea immediately runs upstairs and opens all doors but the end one. He takes a large breath and kicks down the door with all his strength. The door slams onto the cold wooden floor, revealing... Toni. Laying there. The gun between herself and Penelope, who's abdomen is pouring blood. 

Pea yells to everyone in the house, "Up here!" as Cheryl's footsteps become louder and louder on each stair. Cheryl rushes past and into the room. 

Either way, Cheryl would've lost somebody dear to her. Despite her mother's pure evilness, she was still her mother. The person who raised her, fed her, clothed her, sent her to school but simultaneously exiled her. She knew on the surface that losing Toni would've completely shattered her, she was the only person Cheryl had managed to open up to, and make her a better person. 

Cheryl sees Toni laying there still and rushes over to her body, beginning to cry. She panics and wants to call for an ambulance until a soft voice whispers, "Not the hospital again" attempting to laugh. Cheryl chuckles in pure delight at the sound of Toni whimpering voice as the whole gang cheer for the safety of their friend. Cheryl brings her girlfriend in for a tight hug, kissing her forehead. She turns her head to the left, to see her dying mother. 

Penelope's final breath completes itself and her eyes roll back into her skull. Her reign of torture upon Cheryl was finally over. Despite her awful mothers death, Cheryl began to cy. Tears and tears until Pea picks her up, "C'mon kid. Let's go outside" he says softly. 

In the background, she hears Kevin call his father. They make it outside and Pea sits her down on the open truck. Toni painfully walks up to her, taking a seat next to her. 

"Guess I should probably explain what happened before the police arrive and arrest me. I went inside and she was just stood there. Emotionless, loveless, less. She ordered me upstairs and followed me with the gun digging into my back. My hands stayed above my head the whole  time, she made me keep quiet. Deathly quiet as we made it to the room. I turned around to face her and she held the gun right to my temple. I began to shake against the gun. Cheryl..." she places a hand on Cheryl's leg, "You distracted her. Your voice from outside made her head turn. At that very moment I grabbed the gun and we began fighting, I tried to keep the bullet end away from me but she pulled the trigger. The second she did I turned it around and it shot her. I shot her Cheryl. I shot someone. I shot your mother. Your mother" and she begins to sob.

Cheryl's compassion for her mother had evaporated, "Babe, she got what she deserved as bad as that sounds" smirking, "I love you" 

"I love you too Blossom" she smiles as they hear the faint sounds of police sirens becoming more and more prominent.

"Guess I'll see you 24 hours from now, meet me outside the station" Toni tells her girlfriend, kissing her on the cheek and hopping off the truck.
