Old Faces, New Lives
Mad Hatter sharpened her blade as she waited for her prisoner to wake up, seeing her reflection in the metal. There was no life in her eyes, nothing but vacancy where bright colour should have been. After the unthinkable had been done she would no longer have a purpose, her work would be done and she would depart from this world knowing her friends would be waiting for her on the other side, accepting her into the warm embrace of what many called the next life.
She would be free at long last.
"Hey, moron. You awake yet? Jeez. Hope I didn't hit you too hard, I knew I shouldn't have got too carried away." Mad Hatter moved in closer, clicking her fingers in front of Evie's face. "Hey!"
With a small groan, Evie moved in and out of consciousness before fully coming to. Her vision remained blurry for a moment or two, clearing when she laid eyes on Mad Hatter. Her eyes widened, her heart beating fast. Evie struggled despite the ropes tying her down to a wooden chair and a piece of tape covering her mouth.
My worst fear...
"There's no point in struggling. The only way you'll be leaving this place is in a body bag." Mad Hatter smirked, messing with the blade in her hand. "Shame, really. Things could have turned out so differently...but you made my life a misery, so now it's time for you to pay."
It took only a second for Evie to figure out what she was talking about. She spoke, but her speech was muffled by the tape. Mad Hatter sighed, ripping it from her mouth in a swift, clean swipe.
"It was years ago, Mandy!" Evie cried, fear still pulsing through her. "We were kids! Just stupid kids who didn't know any better! I'm sorry for what I did, believe me, I am, but doing this isn't going to change what happened, it won't take back all the suffering I caused you and it certainly won't make you feel better about yourself!"
"Oh, I know it won't." Mad Hatter acknowledged, her finger on the tip of her knife. "None of this is gonna change what you put me through. Call it poetic justice."
"Justice?" Evie asked, settling down. She wasn't going to get out of this, not easily. "What...what do you plan to do?"
Mad Hatter sighed, irritated. She didn't have all day. "You really are stupid, aren't you, Yvonne? Even after all this time. I thought you would have gained some smarts, but you're still an idiot."
She leaned in close, whispering into Evie's ear.
"I'm going to end you, obviously. Then that way, no one else will have to suffer at the hands of you. Changed woman? I don't believe that for a second. So sit tight, little Evie, because I'm gonna make sure you feel everything. Everything."

It was all over the news. Yvonne Loubelle had been kidnapped. After a neighbour heard a noise coming from Evie's house he went over to investigate, finding the back door was wide open and the TV still on. There was no sign of the college student anywhere, and out of worry, he called the police.
The people of San Fransokyo were gripped to their seats, eyes glued to their television screens. They were on edge. Who would do something like this? Kidnap a woman from her own home? It was the work of a sick individual. Cass Hamada covered her mouth in shock, and the Hamada siblings were in a state of disbelief. Tadashi stared vacantly at what was being presented, nothing was going to fool him now. He had to rescue her, Big Hero 6 and Element 5 had to rescue Evie before it was too late and Mad Hatter did something awful.
Tadashi walked out of the room, quiet. It was unsettling for the younger siblings, who soon followed him.
"We need to save her," he concluded, Hiro and Danika nodding. "Anything could happen to her out there."
