One In The Same
'Oh, now look what you've done, ding-bat! You've gone and got us lost! Next time, i'm taking control!'
'Leave her, Wave! It's a big place! The most important thing is not to panic, we can ask for directions!'
"Absolutely." Evie agreed. "I'm sure no one will mind, besides everyone seems really nice here. I know! Those people over there in that lab seem friendly, maybe they could help?"
Evie took a calm breath and prepared to go to the door of the lab. When she opened it, her eyes widened in awe at what she saw. Her dream was becoming even more of a reality. She jumped out of her skin when a tall girl with golden blonde hair, green eyes and glasses was standing in front of her, smiling pleasantly.
"Hi! Oh, you must be the new girl! Abigail told me about you! I'm Aiko Miyazaki, but you can call me Honey Lemon! Are you lost, sweetie? Don't worry, I got lost on my first day too."
'She must think i'm younger than I actually am. No, Evie, be nice, remember your manners.'
"Actually, I-"
"Oh don't worry about a thing, you'll be okay here!" Honey Lemon reassured her. "Come on i'll show you around, umm...uh...what did you say your name was?"
"Oh, it's Yvonne, Yvonne Loubelle, but Evie's fine."
"Evie? That's such a pretty name, how about you come and meet my friends, they love meeting new people!" Honey Lemon grinned, taking her hand and leading her to where her friends were standing. Evie didn't feel comfortable with being around so many people, but she wanted to make a good first impression and not offend anyone in the process.
"Evie," Honey Lemon began. "This is Ted, Zach, Fred, Wasabi, Go Go and finally, my sister from another mister, Aspen!"
"Sup, dudette?"
"How's it goin'?"
"Nice to meet you."
Evie waved shyly, smiling, only to be complimented by Aspen about how lovely her outfit and hair looked. It came as a bit of a shock to her, but she appreciated it.
"Oh my gosh, that dress looks so vintage! And that hairstyle, it's so chic! How do ya get your hair to look like that?"
"Just some hair spray, bobby pins and a few reference pictures here and there." Evie said nervously, she didn't think that she would have such a warm welcome. "So uhh, what's your major, Aspen?"
"Major? Oh no, honey, I don't study here, I just come here to give Honey and my friends moral support, don't I, sweetie?" Aspen eyed Honey Lemon, and a nod came as her reply.
"We don't study here either, but we're major science enthusiasts." Fred explained, putting his arms around both Ted and Zach. "We've just started studying at an art college; we wanna become comic book artists some day!"
"We have tons of ideas," Ted smiled, looking at Zach after he had finished speaking. "Bro, show her the comic strip you've been working on."
"Oh, right! It's not quite finished yet but, it's getting there. The comic is about a girl who has special powers, but no one likes her because they think her powers are weird, though she proves them wrong and becomes a superhero called Metallica."
Evie looked at the strip, taking in the details. The character that Zach was describing had magnificent green hair, and her eyes were an illuminated grey. It was almost as if it had been painted in honour of somebody he knew.
"This is great," Evie grinned, handing the comic back. "I can see this being a potential comic some day; I bet people will just love it! I really like her hair."
