The Rabbit, The Caterpillar and The Hatter

The next day White Rabbit and Blue Caterpillar decided to ask around and see if anyone had spotted their friend.

"Are you sure you haven't seen her? Dark auburn hair, light green eyes?" White Rabbit questioned a group of friends with a photo in hand, to which they shook their heads.

"Sorry, buddy." one of the friends replied on behalf of the others. "Haven't seen a woman looking like her around. What did you say her name was?"

"Amanda. Mandy Watson." White Rabbit said, glancing at Blue Caterpillar who was buying doughnuts from a stand as he thought of a lie. "She's my younger sister. Been part of my family since my parents adopted her. I haven't seen or heard from her in months and..."

It was easy for the assassin to fake any emotion he wanted. "I don't wanna believe the worst has happened but- i'm sorry."

White Rabbit turned away and sniffled as he cried crocodile tears, smirking. The same person from the group who had spoken reached out to him, frowning.

"I get it, man." he said, feeling awful. "She's your sister, you love her. We'll call you on the number you gave us if we see her around. Come on, guys."

The friends went on their way, White Rabbit laughing when Blue Caterpillar returned with the sugary junk food in a paper bag.

"This was too easy."

Blue Caterpillar took a giant bite out of a doughnut. "What's so funny, Kev?"

"The people in this city are so naive," White Rabbit said, a glint in his 'killing eye'. "They believe any sob story they hear. Still, there's one thing I wasn't lying about. I'm worried about Mandy, Blue. Like really worried. Yeah she can take care of herself, but she's not been in this job long. What if she wasn't successful and she actually is gone for good?"

Blue Caterpillar offered his friend a doughnut and he took it.

"Don't think like that, man. If Mads is capable of taking down a group of guys single handed, I think she's more than able to kill one person. You underestimate her, White."

"I only underestimate her because I worry." White Rabbit explained, eating the doughnut. Y-You and I have been assassins for ten years, Mandy has only been in the industry for three. Compared to us she's still a newbie."

"She skipped most of the introductory classes because she's that good. Look Kevin, i'm sure she's fine wherever she is right now. Don't worry yourself over it too much, you'll make yourself ill."

What am I saying? I've got a pregnant wife back home, if someone kidnapped her I wouldn't stop searching for her! Mandy is no different, I care about her and if someone has hurt her i'll make 'em regret it!

White Rabbit remained in his thoughts, trying to keep himself as calm as possible. The beating sun wasn't doing him any favours, and he grimaced when the light went on his skin.

The struggles of being albino.

Evie finished washing the dishes and putting her clothes out to dry, her hair tied back into a bun and her attire changed to something more casual. Her grandmother had always had a good sense of style, and it was only after her death had she realised it.

"I really hope that lock down situation is getting better." she said, taking the basket that had once held her clothes back inside. "Poor Danika, I can't imagine how she must have felt seeing that. That'd scare anybody, I sure know it would have scared me."
