The Rise of Sunfire
His body was engulfed in orange flames, eyes glowing a ghostly white. The fire didn't hurt, instead, it covered his armoured figure like a thick cloak.
"You might wanna rephrase your words," Tadashi advised, smirking. "I think this moment will be your last. Your last moment as a free woman, that is."
Fear, an emotion Mad Hatter hadn't felt for a long time, crept upon her like a black widow spider with it's long, thin legs, sinking its teeth into her back and it's poison accelerating her heart beat.
"You're never going to be treated like equals, your kind mean nothing to humans!" Mad Hatter yelled, coating her discomfort. "You're just things people will take advantage of, use for their experiments. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you deserved what you got."
Tadashi threw a gigantic ball of fire, the man glancing at his hand in surprise.
Whoa!
"That all you got?" Mad Hatter put both hands behind her back, reaching for two guns. They were locked and loaded, ready to fire. She began shooting, Tadashi protecting himself from each bullet that was shot. The empty shells fell to the floor, the tinkling of metal echoing around the warehouse.
"Face it, you're not gonna win this one," Tadashi said in a low voice. "Might as well just stand down while you have the chance. I won't be held responsible for anything I do. You've had this coming from a long, long time. You've taken countless lives, most of them for money. How do you sleep at night knowing you've done all that?"
Mad Hatter laughed. "It's easy! All I gotta do is take my sleeping pills and snap," she clicked her fingers as she said the word. "I'm out like a light."
"You're sick."
"I prefer a bringer of justice."
"How about a bringer of pain and suffering?"
"I'll accept that."
Tackling each other to the ground, it was a close call on who would take the victory. Though with his might and sheer willpower, Tadashi overpowered Mad Hatter and pinned her down, pure anger written all over his face.
"Just give up! You're done for, Mandy! You're gonna go to jail for everything you've done! I'm sorry if you've been through terrible things in the past, believe me I am, but that's no excuse for what you've done! Everything you did was pure murder and you know it was! So do yourself a favour and admit it."
"It wasn't!" Mad Hatter denied, struggling. "It wasn't murder! I did this to help others, to make sure that they wouldn't be hurt in the same way!"
"It was murder!" Tadashi said, trying to get the message into her head. "You planned it all, that makes it murder! You killed innocent people for no reason! If you just admit what you did was wrong, you can get help! I didn't want to admit that I was sick for a long time, but coming to terms with it changed me for the better. It can change you too, I know it can!"
"I'm not crazy!"
Mad Hatter flipped Tadashi over so that she was on top. Putting both her hands around his throat, she squeezed.
"This is what you get for getting in my way," she said, chuckling. "It's a shame it had to come to this, really. I thought you were quite attractive."
Tadashi did his best to fight, kicking and thrashing about. When he thought he was done for, the tightening sensation came to a sudden halt and he backed away, gasping for air and coughing as the flames around him died down, returning him to normal. Facing forward, a man the mutant was all too familiar with was standing over the unconscious Mad Hatter, holding what looked like a crowbar.
