Blue and Brown
It was odd, but when she was up close Evie seemed to be even prettier than she was when she was a distance away. Her dark brown hair contrasted with her light blue eyes, though even the baby pink that spread across her cheeks couldn't keep Tadashi away.
"Jeez, if you like each other so much then have at it already!" he heard someone shout, though due to him not wanting to start a fight he kept his cool and breathed.
"Just ignore them, Evie. They're just being stupid as usual."
"I figured." she said shyly, clutching her belongings to her chest. "Things really weren't that different back home, except there nobody wanted to talk to me. Still, I guess it's nice to be appreciated rather than be told you're worth nothing to anybody."
'Worth nothing?'
Tadashi didn't know what to make of it, to be told that you were worthless was absolutely awful. No one should have to stand for it, he never stood for it, so why should a poor, innocent girl like Evie have to listen to what people said about her?
"That's not true," his features softened, and somehow for the first time in five years, Tadashi felt like his eighteen year old self again, the one before the fire and mutation that was. "people care about you. Take Abigail and Morley for example, they care about you, my friends care...I care too."
Evie smiled after hearing that, and it caused Tadashi to blush like a home grown tomato when he realised what he had said.
"Not in that way- I mean...nevermind."
The Canadian appreciated the American's kindness, putting her books in her bag and brushing a piece of hair back behind her ear. She couldn't tell as to why her heart beat fast whenever Tadashi was around, for having a crush had never happened to her. It was then she realised...she had a crush.
'Oh my gosh...I have a crush. Me, Yvonne Loubelle, has a crush. This is wrong, I can't have a crush! Not yet! I've only just moved here and...and...'
"I remember when I first met your grandfather, I used to get butterflies just thinking about him." she remembered her grandma saying, even in old age she and her husband were still as in love with one another as they were when they first got together as young adults. Evie's stomach fluttered, and it was then she knew her feelings were true. She had a crush, and was afraid to admit it. It was confusing, genuinely puzzling that she was starting to have feelings for a man she hadn't known for very long and yet here she was, probably making a complete idiot out of herself in front of the other students.
"I knew it. I knew it from day one." Danika whispered, still hiding with Hiro. "Evie totally has a crush on Tadashi, I just knew it!"
"Holy smoke she actually does. She is totally giving him the eyes!" Hiro noticed, doing his best not to blow his or Danika's cover. It would have worked if only Tadashi hadn't seen them, and when asked to come out the siblings did as they were asked, not wanting to disobey their older brother.
"What were you two doing?"
"Nothing." Danika said, looking towards Evie. "Hi, Evie. I know you're probably getting asked this a lot, but how are you settling in?"
"I'm settling in just fine, Danika, thanks for asking." Evie's smile was so pure and unlike anything anyone had ever seen before, so innocent and sweet. "I have to ask, what were you and Hiro really doing hiding behind there just now? Don't worry, I won't judge."
'So pure...'
'So innocent and cute...'
"I, uhh..." Danika hesitated, rubbing the back of her neck with her hand. "we noticed you and Tadashi were talking and...well, kind of wanted to see were it would lead. I gotta admit, it's nice to see my brother smile. It's uhh...been a while, since that's happened."
