Meant To Be
Danika walked into the shared bedroom that belonged to her brothers. Nervousness refused to stop washing over her like a harsh wave.
"Hey sis, what's up?" Hiro was playing Donkey Kong, fist punching the air in victory as he advanced to the next level. "Yes! Finally, I beat Tadashi's high score! Speaking of Tadashi, where is he? I haven't seen him since he left the restaurant."
"Yeaaah," Danika began, dragging her words a little. "About that...he's having some alone time in the attic and said he'd be down later. So, you finally beat his high score, huh? I bet i'll be able to beat yours. If i'm a Monopoly champion, Speed Queen and an aikido expert, i'm pretty sure I can beat you at Donkey Kong."
"You wish." Hiro smirked playfully. He was the best at video games; he'd won so many online championships that he was unable to count them all. "Hey," he noticed Danika looked a little nervous about something. "you feeling okay? Is something wrong- wait a minute...has that Dean guy been trying to land a pass at you again?!"
Danika continued to remain nervous, but it wasn't for the reasons Hiro was thinking. She knew full well why she felt the way she did.
"Oh that does it! I'm gonna kill him! Where did I put my jacket? I swear if he's so much as layed a finger on you i'll-"
"No, no!" Danika stopped Hiro by stepping in front of him. "No no that's not it at all! Tadashi took care of him months ago, remember? It's not Dean, it's okay."
Hiro calmed himself with some deep breathing, with Danika sitting by him as he sat down on his bed, sighing.
"I guess this whole 'big brother' business has really changed me, huh? I'm becoming more like Tadashi every day. What's going on, Danika? You're obviously hiding something from me. It's okay; you can tell me what it is. You can tell me anything, you know that, right?" Hiro put his hand on top of Danika's, just the feeling of him being protective made her feel all the more guilty.
"Okay. I'll tell you." she said.
'Sorry, bro.'

Tadashi lay on his back; he felt serious déjà vu coming on. The feeling of being breathless. He breathed in and out, coughing on the odd occasion. It was a phantom sensation, but he could still feel Sunny's hand around his neck, and he realised that he could have killed him if he had just held on that little bit longer. He was glad Sunny had spared him, but he knew he wasn't a force to be reckoned with.
'He could have killed me. Maybe that would have been for the best. I've already tried 'it' before; perhaps he should just finish what I started way back then.'
'But then that would have been the 'cowards way out.' he mimicked Sunny's low tone, and surprisingly enough it was rather amusing. He didn't care if Sunny scolded him for it later, he was just glad that he could entertain himself. Standing up and dusting himself free from whatever dust and dirt was on the attic floor, he made his way back to his shared bedroom. When he got there, Hiro was waiting for him.
"Care to explain the stitches, bro? Oh, right, there's no need to because I already know. Why would you get into a fight?!"
Tadashi sighed, glancing at Danika who stood back in an apologetic manner. He was a bit displeased that Danika didn't keep her promise, but he understood why she had to tell Hiro.
"I had to do it, Hiro. A guy was about to do something really, really awful to a girl. I couldn't let that happen, I had to step in and help. To even attempt that kind of assault is just wrong- no, it's disgusting."
