Chapter Twelve (Decisions)

There's some slight cursing in this chapter. Not my intentions as it's a part of the game's dialogue.

        The wind rushed past, throwing my hair around. I stood once more at that park, staring out at the water. I sighed, slightly bored but not wanting to jump onto GGO yet.

"(Y/N)?" A soft voice called out to me from a little bit away. I gasped and looked over, seeing it was Sinon, or Shino. A boy her age was beside her. I smiled at the two.

"Oh! Hey there, Shino! I'm surprised you're not in GGO right now. Are you on a date?" I asked the younger girl. She gasped and shook her head frantically.

"What?! N-no! Kyouji's just a friend. We were hanging out today and just so happened to walk past here when I saw you." I chuckled.

"Ah, I see. Hello there, Kyouji-san! I'm (Y/N) (L/N), a friend of Shino's." He nodded.

"It's nice to meet you, too, (Y/N)-san. When did you meet Shino? Was it before I met her?" I tilted my head.

"I met her about three years ago, now that I think about it. We've just gotten back in touch recently. I kind of pushed all of my friends away after some things happened. I've only recently gotten back in touch with them." I stated. He hummed, seeming to be in thought. I inspected the two of them, as something about this sudden silence was bothering me. Shino seemed, uneasy? It's as if she doesn't really consider this boy her friend. While on the other hand, he seems to be inspecting me like I was him. My eyes widened and I looked back at the water.

"(Y/N)..." Shino muttered. I looked back to her, seeing her eyes softly gazing back at me.

"Is everything alright? I heard from Kazuto that he found you here with someone a couple of days ago." My eyes widened and I sighed, shaking my head.

"Kirito... I'm gonna kill him one day, I swear!" I growled, catching Kyouji's attention. I looked back to Shino with a friendly smile.

"Yeah, the person he saw me with was a new friend I met at this park. It's weird... I seem to keep meeting you guys here, of all places. I can't help but wonder if they have anything to do with it..." I trailed off, looking back to the water.

"They?" Kyouji asked. I gasped, realizing I had said that out loud.

"Whoops... just ignore that. Sorry, but it's personal. Shino knows about it, but I just met you, Kyouji-san. I hope you don't mind." I stated. Shino frowned. Kyouji laughed and smiled, however it seemed, fake almost?

"It's alright. I understand." He stated. I sighed in relief and smiled at him.

"Thank you, Kyouji." I thanked, forgetting to place honorifics after his name. I sighed, placing my hands into my pockets. I looked back to Shino.

"Well, I'm gonna let you guys be now. I'll see you later on GGO? I asked her. She nodded.

"Yes, see you, (Y/N)." I smiled and looked over to Kyouji.

"It was nice meeting you, Kyouji-san! I'm glad I got to meet another one of Shino's friends!" I smiled and waved goodbye to the two of them, taking my leave and walking back to my apartment. As I was walking away, the feeling of being watched entered my system. I froze and looked around. Upon seeing that no one was around, I wrote off my insecurities as just the coming cold, as it was nearing the colder seasons.

It was noon by the time I had gotten home. When I was making my lunch, I received a message on my phone. It was from Shino.

Hey, (Y/N). I was just about to jump onto GGO. Kirito messaged me saying that Yuuki, Kureha and him were waiting for you at your home. I finished making my food before typing a reply.
