As we walked back to my room, I spotted Sinon with someone I've never seen before. Hikaru pointed it out as well.
"Master, Sinon's right over there." Kureha looked over and nodded.
"Looks like she's talking with someone right now. We shouldn't bother her right now." Kureha stated. I looked over Sinon's expression and posture. She didn't look like she wanted to be around this guy. Actually, this almost reminds me of when I ran into her a few weeks ago. Wait, that's not the same guy is it?
"I'm going to say hello." I said, ignoring Kureha's complaints.
"Sinonon! Hey, I haven't seen you since the OS incident." I called out to her. Sinon looked over at me. I noticed a subtle sigh of relief. The guy she was talking to turn to look at me. I forced myself to not flinch at the stare he gave me.
"Oh, (Y/N). Funny running into you here. Did you guys just come from the field?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, we did. We just came back from beating the Area Boss of the Remnant Wastelands. We decided to turn back because of the heat at Solitary Sands." Sinon nodded. I met the gaze of the guy beside Sinon.
"I remember you, you're Sinon's friend, (Y/N), was it?" He stated. I tilted my head in confusion. Was this the same guy like I thought?
"Have we met?" I asked. He gasped, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Right, I don't look the same. I'm Sinon's friend. We met at the park a few weeks back." So he is the same guy. Judging from Sinon's reactions to him, I don't think Sinon really likes to be around this guy. I don't blame her, he's extremely creepy.
"Oh, right! I remember now. I didn't know you played GGO as well." I told him and he smiled, however his smile sent chills down my spine.
"My avatar's name is Spiegel. I recognized you instantly because you seem to be one of the few who use both your real name and your real looks." I smiled a tense smile at him. For once, I'm wishing I didn't use my real information. He's the kind of person I wouldn't want having that kind of information. I can just tell. Sinon could tell just by looking at me that I was uncomfortable like she was when talking to him.
"I didn't expect to meet you here in GGO. You never said anything about playing the game." She stated, drawing the attention of Spiegel once more.
"I wanted to surprise you. Plus, I knew you'd eventually come here someday." Okay, what is this kid's deal? I don't remember him acting like this at all in real life. He's being a total creep to Sinon.
"But what's really surprising, are the guns. I can't believe we can just use them normally. I mean, I know it's VR and not real, but still..." Sinon tenses slightly, and I can guess why.
"Stop it... That's not something we need to talk about here." She folds her arms. Spiegel apologizes to her.
"Ah, sorry. That's right, these guys don't know about what happened in your past." I frown.
"You shouldn't bring that up so carelessly." I stated. Sinon looks over at me, her expression a thankful one. Spiegel's surprised that I know. Kureha and Hikaru look at me in confusion.
"Oh, so you do know." Was all the creep said. It gave me bad vibes. I looked over at my ArFA-sys and Kureha.
"Don't worry too much about it, you two. She'll tell you when she's ready." I told them. Kureha nodded.
"Yeah, I understand. We all have things that we all would like to hide." Sinon thanked Kureha. Spiegel never relinquished his attention on myself.
"Sinon, I have something I'd like for you to see, would you mind us back to my home?" I asked her. She smiled and nodded at me.
"Yeah, I'd love to. Spiegel, this is probably important. I'm going to head out with them. I'll see you later." Spiegel nodded and waved.
"Well then, I guess I better get going as well. See you, Sinon, (Y/N)." He then turned and took off. After he was out of our sights, the tense air lightened. I sighed in relief.
"Sinon, how long have you known him? I'm not going to tell you to stop hanging around him, but I didn't like the vibes I got from him. It's so confusing, considering he was nothing like that when I met you two in real life." Sinon sighed.
"He's always been like that. I've learned to just deal with it. After all, there aren't very many people who want to be around me because of my past, besides you guys." Sinon responded. Kureha looked between the two of us.
"I agree with (Y/N), though. He didn't look like he had good intentions. Call it a girl's intuition." Sinon chuckled, having gained back a bit of her senses again.
"I'll make sure to keep an eye on him." We then lead Sinon back to Kirito's place where she was staying. After we did so, Kureha took off for the day and it was just Hikaru and I out and about. Hikaru was looking at something while I stood back.
"I wasn't expecting to see you again today, (Y/N)." I stood up straighter as chills went down my spine. I turned to the voice and spotted Spiegel. Why is he here? I looked around and spotted that Hikaru was no longer where I last saw him. In fact, it was oddly empty in the area we're in.
"Oh, hello again." I forced out a polite smile. Why did he just approach me for no reason?
"Was there something you needed?" I asked him. He shook his head.
"Not really. I was just curious about you. You see, I did some digging at found out you're pretty new to the game. I was just wondering if you'd like me to offer you any tips." I shook my head politely.
"No, I'm good. I've already got the most of it down. Plus, I can ask my squadron for help if I need to." He raised a brow, interested.
"Oh, you're in a squadron already? Is it a beginners' squadron?" He asked. I shook my head once again.
"Um, no it's not actually. I was invited to join Alphard. I'm friends, I think, with the leader." At the mention of one of the top squadrons, Spiegel's eyes widened in surprise.
"Wow, I wasn't expecting that. I bet it's real easy for you then. Having top players as friends probably makes things easier." I chuckled sheepishly.
"I guess? I don't know what he sees in me. I'm just a normal player like anyone else." I looked around for Hikaru once more.
"Are you looking for someone?" He asked and I shook my head.
"Nope, was just curious. Listen, Spiegel, I need to head out! It was nice talking to you!" Spiegel stops me before I can take off away from him.
"Wait, (Y/N). I just wanted to say I find you very interesting. It's not often that I think of one of Sinon's other friends like that. The most of them are just..." He doesn't elaborate. I smiled tensely at him, hoping to just leave already.
"Thanks, I guess? I really need to get going! See you around, Spiegel!" I took off as fast as I could without it looking suspicious. When I felt I was far enough away, I looked around for Hikaru.
"Where did that ArFA-sys run off to now?" I didn't like the fact he was missing. It felt like Spiegel had been waiting for the right moment to sneak up on me. I finally spotted Hikaru in front of a store. I sighed in relief. Hikaru heard me and turned to face me.
"Master, is something wrong? I'm sensing that your stress levels are higher than normal. Did something happen?" I shook my head, wanting to forget about the whole thing that just happened.
"No, everything's fine."
