My phone ringing woke me from my sleep. Blindly reaching for it, I managed to grab it in my half asleep state.
"Hello?" My voice was scratchy from being used first thing in the morning. A voice I haven't heard in a few months greeted my ears.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing asleep still?! It's nearly noon! Your father and I have been trying to reach you all morning long. We're going to be at your apartment soon, so get ready. We're almost there." Hearing that my parents were in Tokyo made me instantly get up and get ready. I was dressed in my fastest record of less than five minutes. My hair's still a mess when my doorbell rang. Rushing over to the door and unlocking it, my mother and father were standing there. My mother held a disapproving gaze while my father smiled softly at me. I sighed and let them in.
"Let me just fix my hair up. Help yourselves to anything in here." My dad ruffled my already messy hair and allowed me to take off. It's been a week since that whole kidnapping incident in GGO. Honestly, it shouldn't even be a thing, considering something like that should have never been possible in GGO. I guess in the end they fixed the issue. But still, the person who killed my friends knows I'm back in VR. GGO is nothing like SAO, so I should have no reason to be concerned. So why do I feel like this is only the beginning of something really bad?
"Something big might be happening soon." I mutter to myself. It's just a gut feeling.
During the week, I spent my time in GGO helping Hikaru find the rest of his parts. We managed to push through the heat of the desert and get to the next location. The next location was the Old South. The location tends to be used in competitions, as the tall, ruined skyscrapers give great vantage points for snipers. There's also plenty of places to hide and an underground tunnel system that seems to be part of a dungeon. We talked to Argo to get some information on the area, and according to her info, we needed to go back to the desert and kill some more enemies over there to get access to one of the tunnel systems in the Old South. It made sense, as it felt like our time in Solitary Sands was too short. There had to of been something we missed there, and there was. I had plans with my friends to explore the new dungeon we had gained access to, but I can't now. I'll have to let everyone know I won't be getting on today it seems.
Walking back out to my living room, my mother was inspecting the place while my father was looking at a photo. It was the one that had been destroyed quite a few weeks ago.
"Hey, (Y/N). What happened to the frame? I thought it was a different color. Unless it wasn't and I'm going senile in my old age." He chuckled, causing a slight smile to appear on my face.
"It was different, but... something happened and it broke." My father raised his brow. However, seeing that I wasn't going to elaborate more on the subject, revealed why he and my mother were here.
"Well, you're probably curious why we're here. We came to surprise you." My mother spoke up finally.
"We're going to visit a university today. A new semester starts in the spring and we've sent an application to a university for you. Or, well I have. I know all you do all day is play those games and wouldn't even think about your future. So I took the task upon myself as your mother to push you in the right direction." This was news to my ears. Sure, she's told me in her letters that she wished for me to attend university sooner rather than later, but I didn't know she was going to push this onto me so soon. After all, I only recently graduated. I sighed, since I don't have much of a choice in the matter.
"Where did you send an application to?" I asked. My father responded.
"It's a prestigious all girls academy here in Tokyo. With your previous test scores and the fact that you've already graduated, the headmaster was willing to give you a chance and grant you a full scholarship to their school. We came to Tokyo to visit the school with you." I guess if this place wants me that badly, the least I could do is give them a look. I sigh, nodding.
