It was a bright and sunny day in Aincrad. However, it didn't feel like it. I laid on the ground, weakly staring up at the virtual sky through the leaves of the tree I was under. Just days ago... all of my friends had been murdered by the player-killing guild known as the Laughing Coffin. Tears nearly rose to my eyes just at the thought of them. I rolled over and sighed. I was only out right now because if Asuna had seen my player icon at my home, she would have come to check on me. I slowly closed my eyes and just laid there, listening to the birds and the girl singing nearby.

Wait...

I shot up as I realized someone was close by.

"Is she stupid?! It's dangerous out here! There's high level monsters that could come and attack you!" I exclaimed to myself and quickly brought myself to my feet, racing in the direction I heard the girl singing. Suddenly, instead of singing, I heard a scream. I gasped and urged myself faster. I can't just let someone die when I could have done something! I came into the clearing and spotted a girl surrounded by a type of orc monsters. She had a difficult time staying away from the monsters. I took matters into my own hands.

"Hey! Big, fat and ugly! Over here!" I exclaimed, making a loud rukus to catch their attention. It worked, as the majority of them turned away from the girl and to me instead. I quickly killed the ones that ran at me. There were other ones that seemed to have been smarter, as they stayed back and waited for an opportunity to attack. I noticed and switched weapons quickly to my bow, narrowly missing an attack from up close. I gasped in shock and let the arrow loose, getting a headshot on the orc that had attacked me suddenly. When the monsters realized they weren't going to be able to kill me, they ran off. I frowned in concern, but shook my fears away as I noticed the girl was still here.

"Hey, what were you thinking? This area is swarming with high level monsters like those." I stated. She shook herself out of the daze she was in and then turned to me.

"I'm sorry. I really didn't think I would be in that much trouble. I guess my singing caught their attention..." I sighed, looking around.

"Let's get out of here. I don't like how they took off like that. It just means they're getting reinforcements." She nodded and we teleported back to the nearby town. When we were in the safety of the town, I sighed in relief. Not for myself, but for the girl I had just saved.

"Um, thank you for before. I don't know what to think might have happened if you hadn't come rushing in. I'm Yuna, by the way." I held my hand out, smiling softly at her.

"It's no problem, Yuna. I'm (Y/N). You really shouldn't be out there by yourself if you're underleveled for an area." She sighed and nodded.

"I know, my friend, Nautilus would have said the same things as you." She stated. I chuckled.

"He sounds like a good friend then. Keep him close, as anything could happen in this world." I told her, a melancholy tone entering my voice. She frowned in concern.

"You've lost someone, haven't you?" I gasped, then chuckled.

"Am I that easy to read?" She shook her head.

"I just have a knack for picking up on the sort of thing. Would you like to talk about it?" I frowned, then sighed.

"I guess. I lost my entire guild just a few days ago. I have to force myself out of my home, otherwise I'll worry my friends. I can't let Asuna worry so much about me right now. She's busy with the guild..." Her eyes widened in surprise.
