Chapter Forty-Six (Collapse of Balance)

Hello! As you may be able to tell, I've returned to this story to hopefully see it through to the end. As such, this is the last part of the trilogy dlc and will be in two parts! After I've posted the second half, we'll return to finishing the SBC Flugel quest storyline. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy!

"(Y/N), we've got to hurry! We need to get back to the Glocken and meet up with the others!" Kureha exclaimed once we were outside of the dungeon where we fought the imposter ArFA-sys units of Kirito and Asuna. The hot desert sun beat down on us, but we couldn't let the heat defeat us just yet. Not when the safety of Glocken's combat-free zone mechanisms are potentially in danger. Why would Zaskar allow something like this to happen? We race across the sandy dunes, killing anything that gets in our way. Before long, Kirito and Asuna appear before us, seeming to have been coming back in our direction to find us.

"I'm so glad you're okay!" Kirito calls out to us. I give him a sigh of relief.

"Same! I'm glad the both of you are okay, too." Kirito gives me a swift nod before getting back to the reason why they were out here.

"You probably already heard from Yui, but enemy ArFA-sys units are descending upon the city in huge numbers. Until we get rid of them, nobody's going to be able to move around freely." Kirito explains and Kureha frowns at this information.

"I guess Lievre really is serious about trying to destroy the Glocken, huh?" Kureha states. Kirito and Asuna's shocked expressions tell me that they didn't know about this yet.

"Lievre...? Wait, that ArFA-sys unit is behind all of this?!" Kirito exclaims, shocked.

"Yeah, Lievre led us deeper into that dungeon just a little bit ago and tried to take my player data as well. We figured it out before she could do it, but the fact remains that she still has everyone's player data that she's shaken hands with." I tried to explain, but before we can continue talking about everything that's going on, a Yamikaze imposter spawns beside us. Judging by the looks of it, it intends to fight.

"Is that a Yamikaze imposter?" Hikaru calls out and Kureha gives him a confirming nod.

"Looks that way. We'll ask him what's going on after we beat him! Wait, I see another player!" Kureha gasps, spotting more players- two to be exact. A woman in a military style uniform with long, braided golden hair and azure blue eyes stands beside a male in a soldier's uniform with ashy-blond hair and crystal blue eyes. They both seem to be looking around their surroundings as if they're new to the location. Which is strange given their appearances. They look around before spotting us, or Kirito to be exact.

"Huh? Is that you, Kirito?!" The male shouts out.

"What in the world are you doing here?!" The woman exclaims in shock. They know Kirito? Kirito seems to know them as well as he calls out their names.

"Eugeo! Alice! What's going on? I thought you went back to your own world!" Huh? Own world? What is going on here?!

"Kirito, you know these two? Are they friends of yours?" I ask him. Upon speaking up, the long-haired female, who I presume is Alice, looks over at me in shock and confusion.

"(Y/N)? Is that you?" What?

"How do you know my name?" Kirito looks between the two of us, seeming to be just as shocked as I am.

"Alice, you know (Y/N)?" Alice nods, her eyes not leaving my form.

"I do, or perhaps did is the better term. I once knew someone who looked exactly like you. Back in our world." There it is again... Their world? I'm so lost right now. I'm suddenly reminded by the copy coming our way.
