I'm standing before Kirito and the others. Itsuki stands beside me. I suddenly get the notification that I've been removed from Alphard. I gulp, there's no turning back now.
"I'll do it. I'll make the Squadron and be the leader of it." Everyone's eyes are on me. Kirito and Asuna smile proudly at my decision.
"That's great, (Y/N)! I knew you had it in you to get over your fears." Asuna states. Kirito nods in agreement to Asuna's statement.
"I'm glad that Itsuki went after you. We all understand the pain you went through to get here. Your friends were our friends as well, after all." My eyes widen slightly. That's true... I've never once thought to stop and think about how Asuna, Kirito and the others must have felt about losing them too. I frown at the thought.
"I'm so sorry, you guys. I've been so selfish this entire time, so lost in my past. I've forgotten that I wasn't the only one who lost friends that day. I don't get how you all have stuck with me. When I say I won't behave that way ever again, I really mean it. I'm sick and tired of being afraid of my past. I've constantly told myself that I would be past it, only to fall right back to square one. I'll make this Squadron, I won't back down anymore." Sinon sighs, then smiles. A rare sight from the cool-headed girl.
"I know how you feel, (Y/N). I really do. My past haunts me as well. However, you and the others have helped me realize that I'm not the person I made myself out to be. I know I speak for everyone when I say that, you aren't alone. You have us, and you have Kureha, Zeliska, Hikaru, and Itsuki too now. We don't blame you for anything that happened that day." Her words touch my heart. It's something I really needed to hear. I sigh softly, closing my eyes with a soft smile rest on my lips.
"Thank you, Sinonon." She gives me a curt nod. Kureha looks between Itsuki and I.
"So, if you're going to be making this new squadron, does that mean you're leaving Alphard?" She asks. I'm reminded that I'm no longer in Alphard.
"Well, yes. Or well, I'm already no longer a part of Alphard. Itsuki forced me to leave not too long ago." Lisbeth laughs.
"Good, if he didn't force you to leave, you wouldn't have gotten the courage to do this." I sigh, knowing she's right.
"You're right." Asuna looks back over at me.
"Well, if you're going to be the leader..." Kureha butts into Asuna's sentence.
"Wait, what about Itsuki?" She asks and Itsuki looks over at the pinkette.
"What about me?" She turns to him again.
"How is this going to work for you, Itsuki? You already have your own squadron." She asks him. I already know his plan, but the others don't. He shrugs like it's no big deal.
"I've already explained things to (Y/N). Taipan's the one who actually runs the show as it is. I'll just hand over the actual leadership to him." Kureha frowns, wait did she just back up in shock?
"Oh, okay. If you're sure..." Kureha trails off, almost like she wants to say something, but doesn't. Kirito notices this as well.
"Do you have something you want to say, Kureha? I don't always expect everyone to just agree with everything we do, no questions asked. You can speak up." He states. Kureha hesitates, before she turns and stares me in the eyes.
"It's just... hard to picture you as being the leader, (Y/N). It's always been me who's taken charge since we were little, so it's... a bit of an adjustment." It's silent, as everyone seems to be waiting for my response. I sigh.
