Ronan's eyes trailed over the crowd as he heard his named announce.

Royal Crown Prince Alpha Ronan Luca Donovan

The man said as they entered one by one. Xavier was holding Destiny but he knew better. Xavier was showing all other males that she was his. After all this years he still felt so insecure of their relationship. He thinks maybe she will see Xavier is not worth her and ran to the next person she will see.

Ronan chuckled at the thought. If only Xavier had known she was much more possessive than him, he would be running for hills. Xander looked at Ronan with Amused expression wondering what could have made this gloomy man chuckle like this.

Ronan scanned the crowd again and his eyes landed on certain blond girl. She looks beautiful. Once again he was drawn to her unearthly beauty. But as soon as he saw another man holding her a low growl escaped his lips. Xander looked at what made him agitated all of a sudden. Then his eyes followed Ronan until he access the cause.

"Soon" Xander mouthed. Ronan tried to calm himself down. But his wolf was trying to rip that boy into pieces for touching what is his. She was looking rather tempting. He just wanted to take her away and do all the wicked things to her. He ripped the side of the stairs tightly. No, this is not a time to give into temptation.

"Are you alright Ron?" Destiny asked with concern as they neared the base of the stairs where the crowd awaited them. He nodded trying to strengthen his resolve. Xander took the glass in his hand and clink it to gather everyone's attention.

"I King Xander, Queen Destiny and Prince Ronan Welcome you all to our 86th annual Royal ball. As we know it was started by my great grandfather who had this special wish to unite our people as one. And give them a night to mingle among the other packs and find your allies. But it is also a special occasion for all those un mated wolves to find their mates."

Xander stopped and Looked at Ronan and winked. At which Ronan shook his head sadly. "And I have another announcement to make. I am giving all those wolves who got rejected or lost their mates for some cause to have a second chance at love. I am giving them opportunity to select a choice mate."

Everyone's eyes widen at the announcement. Some females looks happy and Males were growling possessively. Ronan laughed at them turning all their attention on the prince. Xavier smiled knowingly. "What is so funny Prince Ronan?" One of the males asked.

"Did you somehow rejected your mate mutt?" He asked coldly. The male's eyes harden. "why you think so?" The male asked icily. "Because now you are about to regret your decision." Ronan said looking into his eyes challenging him to lower his gaze.

"How can you know? From where I can see you are still mate less" That was like a stab to his heart which was already broken.

Destiny growled at the person. "Do not talk to my brother in that tone. And you should have thought about this when you let her go." Destiny said using her alpha tone.

He has no choice but to lower his eyes and submit. "Calm down love" Xander placed his hand over Destiny's shoulder. She relaxed under his touch.

"Ron knows how it feels... and he knows much better than you about the pain that one have to face..." Destiny said in a small voice. Ronan looked at her and mouthed

"No" She nodded as she caught before revealing too much about Ronan's past.

But someone caught it both the indication and pained looked at Ronan's face and Destiny's voice. Paige stood there glued looking at him. Choice mates, that was the world ringing in her mind all of a sudden. She was free to chose anyone she likes now

. But was she was willing to do so? And what about Ronan? Will he chose someone else too? But this ball was meant for him to chose a mate. She wanted to believe it was not real but... it was and he have every right to reject her. Once again all her insecurities resurfaced.

"Any questions you may have regarding new mating rules?" Xander asked. Charles was waiting for this for a long time. "So Alpha if I am in love with someone and we both still haven't found our mates can we chose the choice mating?" Charles asked looking at Paige.

"But what if you found your mate next? Do you want them to go through the pain? But if you love that person and the person loves you. You still need Alpha's permission to mate with that person." Xander replied.

"You can apply here and we will reply to you as soon as we can. And only if approved by Royal council you can have such mating" Xander said.

"Fine then Alpha before I submit my application I like you to know that I am in love with Paige Morgan. And I have been in love with her since she had came to the academy. She was the person who made me feel welcome here. I want her as my mate do you approve Alpha King?" Xander stiffen visibly. He didn't knew that his plan will back fire.

His eyes met Ronan who looked shocked and lost for words. He cannot do this with Ronan. He cannot let him go through the pain he once felt.

No... Before anyone can blink their eyes Ronan was walking out of the palace gates.

"Ron" Destiny called but he didn't turned around. He felt his heart shattering into pieces.

He fell down on his knees looking at the moon. "Goddess why do you have such a cruel sense of humor?" Ronan said under his breath.

He felt the pain again. He knows now she had it she will take it. It is her opportunity for freedom. Freedom from him.

"I will respect her decision whatever it may be. I will not force her into anything. I will accept her..." He cannot made himself say that vile word.

That word which is like slow poison to him. It will kill him he knows but he loves her too much to keep her prisoner with him.
