Chapter 40

The whole kingdom was dressed in black. The stench of death was in the air. The black flag raised all over the academy gates.

The training grounds, the classrooms were empty. The students were back but their laughter was not raging in the air. Instead a sadness soaked their cheerful self.

The king and queen were dressed in their mourning cloths, loss of so many loved one had shaken them to core.

Destiny never saw such cruel intentions within one person. She picked up the black roses and walked outside. It was Paige's favorite flower.

She walked inside the hospital door and towards the room in the last corridor. It had been two weeks since Evangeline had been gone for good. Memorial sevices had been held for the fallen soldiers.

She looked at the sulken face of his brother. Amara had done as much as she can, but only time can bring back what was lost in those moments.

The memory of horrifying night had kept her awake for days. Still she gets nightmares about it. About the moment when Paige closed her eyes and when Ronan collapsed.

"Brother I bought her favorite flowers" She said softly placing them in the water. "Why I am here? Why I am not there why it is her?" He asked looking at Destiny.

"You are her strength Ron. Paige draws her strength from you. She is just recovering her injuries were grave. She was poisoned and she was hurt badly." Destiny tried to reason.

"Why her? She didn't deserve it. It was my fault I trusted the wrong person. It should have been me. It should always been me. If I died first she wouldn't have to suffer this way. She didn't have to fight for her life." He said holding Destiny's arm.

"no it would have been selfish Ron- Ron she had sacrificed herself for you. I have seen her she loves you and she will come back to you and victor" Amara said as soon as Victor came inside and sat beside Paige.

"Daddy why don't she talk?" he asked holding her hand as always.

Victor don't understand where is her mother and why his father was upset. But he does know that everyone is sad because of this beautiful lady had been sleeping in a deep sleep. And as all of them he too want her to wake up and talk to him.

"Talk to her maybe she will wake up for you Little victor" Ronan said softly to him. He leaned into her ear like everyday and said "My daddy is sad and you can make him not sad please wake up. You are sleeping for too long now" He said in his little voice.

Amara held his hand "Victor it is your nap time come on let the good lady rest and she will wake up soon" Amara said.

"You should rest too Ron you have been awake for too long even as a wolf it is been extereme even since you woke up you haven't left her side" Destiny said.

"I can't sista what if she wake up? I know she will want to see me first. I know it she want me here"

"She want you healthy too do you want her to yell at you as soon as she wakes up?" she asked. " she can yell at me beat me up even she can leave me if she likes but I just want her to wake up" He said.

Days passed and the hopes were started to get depleted each day she grew more frail more pale like death. Ronan sat there day and night holding her hand. Amara, Daniel, Xavier and Destiny watched him growing frail with her.

Victor sat beside her each day and whispers in her ear about his day hoping that maybe she will respond to him.

"Day thirty since you are here. They say You are not going to wake up but I know you will my little mate. I know you will smile at me again laugh even defeat me in training exercise you know why? Because you are best of the best. Not because you are the best fighter but because you fight with your heart and you fight for every right reason. Paige Morgan...No Paige Donovan never gives up... You are my fighter my warrior." He said.

He shied and turned around to leave when suddenly someone grasped his hand. "Did you just gave me your surname?" Ronan looked horrified for a moment he didn't believed over his eyes. Then he realized he was not hallucinating and she was actually awake.

"Destiny, Xander, Amara, Daniel anyone please come here Paige is awake. My little mate is awake" He said hugging her tightly.

"R..Ron c...can't breathe" She said. "Sorry Little mate I was just so much happy seeing you well and alive." Ron said placing her back at bed.

"Can I check her?" The doctor said entering. "Sure all yours" He said. The doctors checked her and cleared her.

"Congrats Prince I officially declare her well enough to be discharged from the hospital. And oh yes you have another news. You are having pups she is three weeks pregnant" He said.

"Did I heard it right brother? You did beat the challenge she is pregnant first now I have to try harder" Xander said and got a smack from Destiny on the head. "You are not coming within ten feet of me Xander. I am warning you. It will not end well." Destiny said.

"Oh come on baby girl we all know it is not true. You want me to come near you. More like near your feet and other things." Xander said playfully.

"Xander we have children here behave" Destiny scold. "Only child here is you my Queen." Xander smiled holding her from behind. Victor walked inside and smiled when he looked at the lady. He sat down beside her like everyday and hugged her.

"You are awake lady" He said. "I am awake and now we can play like you have wanted to" She said. "You heard me?" Victor asked surprised.

"Yes I did little Prince." Victor smiled at the nick name. Ronan looked contained as he have found his family now. Paige will be a good mother for Victor, he knows it well.

And he knows that as the sun's have raised, new dawn will follow. He has all new opportunity, new possibilities, hopes and dreams and long wonderful life with his family he always wanted to have, His son and his mate and their unborn child will have a future they had deserved from the beginning.

"What are you thinking Ron?" Destiny asked. "That we still have long way to go but I know the journey will be worthwhile. With them beside me, I will make sure to capture every single memory inside my heart and make my each living moment count because not every one of us gets the second chance" Ronan said.

"You are right brother, I am going to organize another coronation ceremony once Paige recovers fully after all we have to celebrate the arrival of our little Prince and I think a princess on it's way too" Ronan smile.

"You can do that while I have another important thing to do now." He said kissing Destiny's cheek and walking out.
