A Lycan's Hybrid Mate

Chapter 23

Kage's Pov

"Bring it on...."

Immediately as those three words escaped from my mouth a spear flew right pass my head, only missing it a few inches. My eyes widened just slightly. To be honest, I wasn't expecting that.

'What's with the sudden change!?'

Chuckling from the General was heard behind me. I tilted my head back a bit to look him. He had his right hand stretched outwards at the side with the spear in his possession; indicating he caught it.

He threw it at me. I moved slightly to the left, my gaze still on the General while the spear flew pass my head a second time. I then turned my head back around to face the guard in the middle who had caught the spear with ease.

I took a step forward getting ready to attack the three guards in front of me but I immediately had to jump back when a bullet shot pass in front of me that came from my right.

'The hell?'

I looked to the right and the two guards who stood with the twins were both holding guns. However, one was now laying on his stomach on the ground with a sniper rifle while the other one was still standing with a Glock 27 Gen 3 pistol pointed at me.

'Eeek! I always wanted one of those!' I mentally squealed excitedly.

Suddenly a whip with blades lashed out at me. I jumped back once again to avoid it but a kick to my back prevented me from landing and I was now going forward, still in mid-air.

The same blade-like whip lashed out and gripped my foot, bringing me down to the ground roughly. A fair amount of pain shot through me as I attempted to get up; I groaned and held my back. 'That kick...damn ... If I wasn't what I was, my back would be not broken but fucking shattered! He didn't hold back!'

I looked down at my left foot to see the ankle of the boot still in one piece and not torn. I thanked the heavens for a person like Rin.

Before I could even stand properly a guard charged at me with a sword in his hands. He swung at my head and I ducked and spun my right foot around to kick him off his feet. But he jumped up and jumped backwards back to his spot beside the other two guards.

I stood and glanced around. It was then I realized the two guards on my left did not have any weapons. One of them must have kicked me earlier. When finish attacking they retreat to their formation and the other one immediately charges without giving me anytime to react.

I hung my head low. 'Oh... I get it now...'

"I'm pretty sure you've just noticed Kage. Two guards will be attacking at long distance ranges, while three with attack from both long and short range and the other two will be doing hand-to-hand combat." The General pointed out the fucking obvious.

He continued, "As you know, these are lycan guards of the Argyris Palace. They are not like your other opponents or 'targets' that you've encountered. They are stronger and faster and is given the duty to protect all of the Argyris Royal family members with their lives on the line each and everyday. So don't expect them to be some easy push-overs like the lycan you killed-"

His sentence was interrupted by the sudden outburst of laughter that came from me. I could feel the eyes of those around me burning holes at me; especially Romanov.
