Grayson's POV

"I mean, why not?" I question. Teala was sitting in the seat next to me, trying to convince me to not make her go to prom with me.

"That's not exactly my scene, you know that," she says lowly as she actually scribbles down some answers on her French worksheet.

I fix my gaze to her beautiful brown eyes. She looks up at me innocently, her eyes seeming to tell more than her mouth was. My eyebrows pull together as I grab her tiny hand, tracing patterns on her soft skin. "What's the matter?"

"Prom is so cliche, ya know? I'd much rather just chill and eat some pizza or something," she shrugs.

"If that's what you want, then that's what you'll get," I smile, kissing the back of her hand. "How's Noah?"

Her eyes light up. "They found him a doner! I mean, unfortunately another kid his age just passed away. But, hey. At least one life will make it out okay, right?"

I grin, nodding my head. "Yeah."

"Oh gosh, I really hope he'll be okay during the surgery. I mean, what if-" Teala begins to ramble.

I admire her and the way the words glide over her lips, and the way her eyebrows would slightly squish together when she got nervous.

When she was finally done, she let out a deep breath. "You weren't listening, were you?"

I shake my head no, laughing a little. "He's going to be fine. I promise you," I reassure, before grabbing my phone and seeing the time was 2:59. "Come on, the bell's about to ring."

After we pack our stuff up, the beeping sound of the bell plays through the school, and students from all different directions herd to leave the school.

Prom was tomorrow night, and people had lots to do. Although I was sad that I wouldn't be able to take the one I love to the last chance I had at any type of high school dance, I kept Teala's hand in mine as we happily walked through the halls. Because despite all of that, it could be worse; she could be completely ignoring me like she had been only a week ago.

"Wanna grab some food?"

"Uh yeah. Let me find Ethan and tell him. I'll meet you at your car."

She nods and makes her way though the school. I sigh and run off in the other direction, towards Ethan's last period class, hoping to find him.

"Sup dude?" I ask as he's standing at his locker.

"Hey," he says, kind of frustrated.

"What's the matter?"

"Natalie doesn't want to go to prom, with me." he mumbles, his gaze dropping down to the floor.

He looks rather defeated, as if he just watched someone kick a puppy. "I'm sorry man. If it makes you feel any better, T turned me down too."

"Yeah, but you guys are still okay. For right now. Natalie has just been so distant lately and I'm just afraid that there's something else that's going on that I don't know about."

I sigh. "Talk to her. She'll come around. Besides, it's her loss," I smirk.

Ethan rolls his eyes, but smiles nonetheless. "Thanks."

"Me and Teala are about to catch something to eat, wanna come?"

He shakes his head no while closing his locker. "Nah, I've got Math homework."

"Okay, we'll see ya then."

-

"No stop!" Teala yelps as I try to drink some of her green apple slushi.

"But it even has jolly ranchers in it. HOW COULD YOU NOT SHARE?!" I whine.

"You should've gotten one, smart stuff." She replied, happily sipping on the green drink.

"I paid for it," I scoff, crossing my arms.

"That's what you're supposed to do, Mr. Gentleman."

I smile and look out to the side, to see the Sonic sign standing still as the wind blew. Sighing, my attention was captured by the little holes in the red table, ya know, like the ones with an umbrella.

"What's on your mind, Grayson?"

I shrug my shoulders. "Nothing, I guess."

When, in all entirety, was a lie. I was thinking about how I wanted to be able to treat my girl to prom, and to make sure she felt like a princess on such a special day. I wanted nothing more than to have a good time with her tomorrow night, and actually feel like I hadn't broken her heart all of those weeks ago. I still feel guilty, and I guess the only way for me to get over it was to make her feel extra special.

"It's just that," I speak up. "I want to treat you right, tomorrow night. I want to spoil you rotten, by getting a limousine, getting you whatever they call those little flower thingies they put on your wrist,"

"A corsage?"

"Yeah one of those. And, and, oh I don't know," I trail off, becoming kind of embarrassed that I brought it up to begin with. "I just want to prove to you that I love you."

She sighs before turning herself towards me. My eyes stay glued to the table in front of me. "You don't have to break your bank to show me that you love me. And you definitely don't have to take me to some overhyped school dance. But if it means that much to you, then I'll go with you. But! Only if you ask me right now in the best way that you can!"

My eyes widen as I turn towards her. "Really?!"

She hums in response. "You've got thirty seconds to give me a memorable promposal. Go!"

I jump up, looking around Sonic, trying to find something really cool to impress her. "Fuck," I mumble as there is almost absolutely nothing appealing around this place. "Fifteen seconds!"

I turn to look towards her, only to find a bed of red and yellow tulips. I smile as I rush over and pick three red ones, and one yellow one.

"Three seconds!"

"Okay okay I'm here!" I giggle, out of breath.

"Alright lover boy, let's see what you got."

I grab the yellow tulip. "Well, since yellow is my favorite color on you," I start, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Here is a yellow flower for you to wear in your hair." I say, a smile glued to my face as I place the flower behind her ear as well. Teala grins as well.

"And what are these for?"

"Well, it isn't much, and I don't really have the right words to say, but, I would really love it if you came to prom with me tomorrow night," I say, getting on one knee and holding out the red flowers to her.

Her grin grows wider and she takes the flowers before nodding her head. "I would love that very much!"

I stand up and kiss her sweet lips for the first time in what feels like forever. It doesn't last long because we are both smiling way too much. She giggles as I rub my nose against hers.

"I can't wait," I say, grabbing her cup and taking a sip of the slushi.

"Hey!"

"I paid for it!"

"Oh shut the hell up."
