Chapter 8: The Forest

Unknown POV:

We left Sayuri's and made our way to the forest where I was found. Lee and Sayuri walked ahead of us holding hands, the rest of us walked side by side.

Hinata and Kiba kept up conversation with me, Shino was silent.

Hinata: S...So have you remembered anything?"

I shook my head, I wished desperately that I knew but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't.

Kiba: " Well you have to know something, I mean you knew what kind of bug Shino uses."

Without thinking I corrected him. "They are insects."

I was shocked and the others seemed so too.

Kiba: "See, you know about bugs I mean insects. That's got to account for something. Maybe you're an insect user like Shino."

Sayuri and I both shook our heads.

Sayuri: "If she were an insect user like Shino then her body would be the hive of insects. At the hospital when we ran x rays we found this not to be the case."

I spoke again without thinking.

"Not all insect users have to turn their bodies into a hive. There are other means."

Everyone looked at me in shock including Shino. What was I saying? I didn't know anything about insects, not that I remembered anyways.

All too soon we made it to the forest and I hesitated before entering. What if I did learn who I was and I didn't like myself, what if I turned on everyone, what if...

My thoughts were interrupted by a hand on my shoulder. I looked and saw that it was Shino. He seemed as distant as ever behind those glasses and tall collar but his words were kind.

"Whatever happens in there, we will still be your friends. We don't give up on our comrades that easy."

Kiba: "Yeah, I mean we kept Sasuke around after all and he tried to destroy the village, destroy the tailed beasts, he attacked the Kage and...."

Sayuri: "What Kiba is trying to say is that we won't give up on you no matter what."

I smiled and with the extra confidence followed them all into the forest.

After a while we reached a spot where the trees began to be broken and burned, and the ground grew unlevel.

Shino: "Here we are."

Before us was a giant crater surrounded by pure destruction. That was the last thing I remembered seeing before I blacked out.
