The following morning, Ricky was sleeping peacefully in his bed dreaming, when a loud noise flooding his right ear woke him up. His hazel green eyes shot open to see a figure moving around his bed. Ricky rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, letting them focus on the person.
"Shhh." He heard her hush.
Ricky smirked softly seeing Manny in one of his shirts bouncing Esmerelda in her arms once she took her out her little crib that Ricky kept in his room.
Ricky sat up in his bed, rubbing his eyes and rubbing his fingers through his hair. He felt Manny kiss his cheek while she breastfed Esmerelda then went off to the kitchen to make some breakfast for them and Jacob.
Ricky yawned one last time, just as his alarm went off. He turned it off and got up out of bed to shower and change his clothes. After getting dressed in a simple sports t-shirt, basketball shorts, and some sneakers, Ricky went into the main area of the apartment to see Jacob tying his shoes, Esmerelda sitting in her high chair, and Manny cooking in the kitchen.
Ricky walked over to Manny and kissed her lips softly. "What're you making?" He asked, walking out their tiny kitchen so she could cook.
Manny cracked an egg and put it into the pan that was on the stove. "Eggs and bacon. You want some Jacob?"
The white boy shook his head from his spot on the couch, standing up and throwing his bags over his shoulder. "Nah, I'm good. Ricky stole my ex-girlfriend, I'm not gonna steal his breakfast."
Ricky ignored him as he walked out the apartment. Manny turned the stove down and looked at her boyfriend. Ricky could feel her eyes burning holes into the side of his head, but he didn't look at her.
"What?" He asked in a monotoned voice, typing on his keyboard of his laptop with one hand and playing with Esmerelda with the other.
Manny sighed, turning the stove up and continued cooking. "Don't you think it's a little weird that Jacob has to see us together everyday? Kissing and being loved up in his own house?"
"It's my apartment." Ricky pointed out. "He doesn't pay rent, but I see where you're coming from. It might be tough on him. I'd feel bad if he wasn't messing around with Macy again." He said, biting his nails from the hand he was using to type.
Manny glared at Ricky, but stared down at the stove.
"You ever talk to Clover about us?" She wondered."Why would I do that? You already did."
"Cause she's your ex you see everyday." Manny pointed out. "Clover's my best friend and we had our own conversation about this. About us. You see her everyday and now you're coaching her? She—"
"Has a boyfriend, who she might as well be living with again, and she's more focused on other things in life than us." Ricky pointed out, looking at the Mexican girl over the small bar counter with a opening in the wall so they could see each other. "Dante is walking again. I'm pretty sure whoever I'm dating is the last thing on her mind at a time like this."
"I'm just saying." Manny sighed, starting up the bacon right as she was finishing off the eggs.
Ricky got up from his spot at the small dining table and went over to the bar counter. He looked down at her cooking and chuckled. "Stop trying to cook and figure out problems at the same time. You're suppose to make the bacon first then the eggs. Not the other way around."
Manny frowned then looked down at the food. "Damn it." She whispered under her breath. "Whatever, you're still gonna eat it before you leave."
Ricky smirked, walking towards Esmerelda when she started whining for attention. Manny watched with glee as Ricky picked Esmerelda up and started playing with the five month old baby.
