Chapter 54
"Wait," my father stopped my story, making me look at him, "If that is what had happened, why are you wearing a wedding ring?" he asked, clearly confused. There indeed was a wedding ring on my finger, and I have not gotten married on June 1st 1832. Yes, the situation was incredibly serious, but I could not help but smirk a little. I managed to mess with my father's head.
"Because I am a married woman," I explained , shrugging as if it was no big deal. I could not tell him the entire truth yet. That would be rushing forward and oversimplification of the story. And I could not, under any circumstances oversimplify it. I had to stay true not only to it's content but also to its chronology.
"But if your tale is true, that would mean the wedding had never happened," He frowned, scratching the back of his head.
"That one did not," I admitted, smirking once more and fiddling with my ring, "but I am not yet done with my story. There is so much more to it, papa. And the couple next days have brought more events and circumstances, and in the end, there was a revolution and there was also a wedding."
He sighed loudly, "How long will it take you to tell me everything, child? All of this is getting simply ridiculous. As I promised, I am listening but you seem to make less and less sense. You have to start explaining yourself properly, young lady. You know very well that it takes just one word from me, and your precious little revolutionaries will lose their heads!"
"Are you really prepared to murder them the way your own father was murdered?" I hissed, squinting my eyes at him.
"The people murdered my father, now I can murder the people in return." He proclaimed in a stoic way, "It is one of the oldest laws of the world, "An eye of an eye..."
"That is simply barbaric!" I exclaimed.
"Barbaric?" He chuckled, "You call me barbaric? Do not make me laugh girl. You run off with the revolutionaries, you allow your own pure sister to give her virtue to one of the worst scum of the Paris and now you proclaim that the wedding you supposedly used to stop the revolution never happen!"
"There was a wedding" I protested, but the king did not let me finish,
"Give me one valuable reason to not give the order for their execution!"
"Simply hear me out, papa!" I cried, prepared to beg for the life of my loved ones, "Just let me finish my story!"

"Vi?"
"Vctorie?"
"Victorie?"
I heard all those voices calling my name but I at the same time it was as if I could not hear them. I felt as If my soul has left my body, or as if my body has left me. I was a thought without a physical form, grasped in a moment of shock. I could not feel anything; no cold, no warmth, not pain; nothing.
In a snap of fingers, my world fell apart, and I felt as if I was falling into tiny pieces, blown away like dry leaves on the wind. I failed my mission, and I might have as well stopped existing.
