all mistakes are mine.
"yeah, sure," i smiled at veronica and stood up.
she called the bartender and asked if he could take a picture of us. after a few shots, he handed back veronica's phone with a small smile.
"your songs are great," she uttered and sat down beside me.
i looked at her and chuckled. "they're not that bad."
"they're amazing. are you kidding me?" she raised a brow, a playful smile on her beautifully sculpted face.
looks like God spent a whole lot of time on this angel.
i just shrugged as an answer. "do you want something to drink?"
"oh," veronica looked shocked for a moment, but when she was fine again, she flashed me a cute smile. "a lemon iced tea would be good enough."
i nodded and ordered another drink. after that, i turned back to her again.
"not a fan of alcohol, huh?" i questioned.
"well, let's just say that i don't love it," she giggled.
"i can't relate," i uttered. "i once downed 7 shots of hennessey - no chasers," i flashed her a cocky smile.
she covered her mouth to hide the gasp. "really? what? how? why?"
"i was feeling very very down that day. things happen," i replied with a not so genuine smile.
veronica nodded her head and asked no more questions. i like that she knows the definition of privacy.
she showed me the photos we took earlier. i was smiling, veronica was smiling, it was just a normal fan-meets-her-idol-photo. nothing special.
"you look so good," she commented while still looking at her phone.
i giggled and that made her look at me. "trust me, honey, you look better," i replied and winked at her.
veronica's cheeks are suddenly tinged with red like a rose. she looked away for a second as she struggled to reply. do keep in mind that i'm not flirting, i was just being honest. i also made a mental note of how adorable she looks when flustered.
"t-thanks?" she replied with a questioning tone, it's obvious that she's still very flustered.
"when will you be coming back to L.A?" she suddenly asked, changing the topic.
"two days from now. i'm coming back with ally."
veronica nodded and told me that it's her first time visiting korea and that she's so lucky to be invited in this party and meeting me. i merely smiled. we continued our conversation and sipped our drinks every now and then. our talk was mild, nothing too personal, but she did ask me who was behind loving you, it was apparently her favourite song from my latest album.
well, chaeyoung was behind it, but of course i wouldn't tell her that. not now.
"my first love," i answered, and forced a chuckle. i feel my heart palpitating, slowly being dominated by pain, and all i did was just think of her.
"she messed me up pretty bad," i added.
"i can tell," she sips on her drink and looked at me. "you're in a whole lot of pain right now. i can tell just by looking at you," she smiled, but with a twist. this time, her smile was sad, but it didn't show any sign of pity.
i actually really appreciate that. the last thing i need right now is someone pitying me.
i flashed her a smile, and we continued our conversation. luckily, we don't have to talk too loudly to hear each other.
the jazzy music turned into pop songs, the abrupt changed made her and i grin, moments later, i found myself asking veronica to dance with me.
"i can't dance, lisa," she frowned slightly.
i stood up and lent her my hand. "i can't too," i cooed.
"yes, you can!" she exclaimed. "i saw your dance video. you were great!"
i blushed a little at her compliment, giggling, i gently grab her wrist and gave it a soft tug. "i'm not that great. you're exaggerating."
she finally stood up. "oh, please, you're an amazing dancer. stop beating yourself up."
"if you dance with me i'll stop being hard on myself," i smiled sweetly.
veronica sighed, defeated. and just like that, we made our way to the dance floor.
at first, she was too shy to bust out some moves, but with little motivation it didn't take her long to start feeling the beat and just dancing her heart out.
i danced with her. i feel my heart pounding inside my chest, following the beat of the song that was currently playing.
i've always liked dancing. whenever i'm bored, i'd play music on my speaker and just dance until i just can't.
veronica isn't a bad dancer at all. she has rhythm, and she definitely knows how to move her body. her hips swayed in all the right directions. i felt her arms slowly wrapping around my neck, and i made no effort to stop her. i returned the favor and snaked my arms around her small waist.
standing at only 5'3, veronica is definitely the right balance of beautiful and cute.
this girl got me entranced.
as the night got deeper, i found myself getting more and more lost in veronica's mesmerizing eyes and sultry gaze.
"you're so beautiful," i slightly leaned down and whispered right in her ear.
she chuckled softly and pressed our bodies together. once again, i made no effort to stop her.
although we just met i feel really comfortable with her. she seems to get me and she's fun to be with. i see no reason not to befriend her.
to my dismay the fast music ended - replaced by soft, jazzy music. everyone stopped dancing and so did we. we were catching our breathe when suddenly veronica leaned her head on my chest - her ear pressed against my heart.
her action sent me back to a tunnel of broken and shattering memories of what used to be of us.
chaeyoung would always press her ear against my chest when we cuddle on my sofa, when she's tired or is feeling kind of upset. and every time she does it, i felt so scared because she might hear how loud my heart beats for her. but now that i think about it, maybe she leans on my chest because the sound of my heart was comforting for her.
i wish that was the case, but i doubt it.
"your heart is beating fast, lisa," veronica softly cooed.
i smiled and gently placed my chin on top of her head. i hummed to the jazzy music before letting my mind drift elsewhere.
there was no more hurricane inside my chest. i felt calm and peaceful.
"veronica," i cooed.
she slowly lifted her head to meet my gaze.
"yeah?"
"you remind me of my first love," i gave her a small smile.
"can i be the second?" she questioned, returning my small smile.
"maybe. . ."
