Elsa wearily twisted the door handle to her bedroom door, She hadn’t opened the door herself in what felt like forever. Whenever she did leave her room she was always accompanied by someone incase she was to hurt anyone. She peered out of the door and down the corridors that were illuminated by the sun that shone through the windows.
Once she knew she was alone she stepped out of the door, taking a large breath of relief, she wished she could tell herself the worst part was over, but that was far from true. By the end of the day she would no longer just be a princess, she would be a Queen. Everyday filled with the same thing over and over, practically spending the rest of her life in a personal office having meetings or signing a piece of paper she would prefer to watch burn in a fire.
“Queen” She said in disgust, as if it was by far the worst word she could ever think of. She walked hastily down the corridor. After being shut in for so long the outside world became a terrifying place, especially when the last memory she actually had of it was almost the death of her sister. What kind of person are you when you nearly kill your sister, not the kind of person who should be allowed to run a kingdom, that’s for sure. To Elsa, being queen meant looking after lots of people, but the one time she tried to look after Anna it was nearly the last day of that little innocent girls life. If she couldn’t just look after one girl, the one person she loved and cared for so dearly, what was she going to do with thousands.
Her mind filled with thoughts like this but disappeared in an instant as she finally clicked her mind back into reality to see the room she now stood in was glazed with ice and snow. All she had to do was have a crown placed on her head, meet some of the rulers from kingdoms Arendelle would be trading with in the near future and leave, but without revealing her dark secret. ‘Simple’ she thought, even though she knew it was anything but that.
The bells chimed in the back ground, signaling to Elsa and everyone in Arendelle that it was time. She shuddered at the thought before making her way down to where she had previously been told to go.
The crowning ceremony all went smoothly, a few minor blips but nothing noticeable. By far the worst part had to be the way Elsa noticed that Anna stared at her, not being able to make usual conversation with her, it was although Anna saw Elsa as a stranger, someone she had never met. It seemed Anna could make better conversation with anyone other than Elsa. She wanted to explain to her why she had stayed in her room for so many years with no answers to her questions and pleads, but she couldn’t. How do you explain to your sister that you nearly killed her and that scar of whitened hair churns your stomach enough to make you feel sick as you remember her laid lifeless and cold in your arms? You don’t.
“You look just as beautiful as you did all those years ago Elsi- I-I mean Queen Elsa” Anna said shyly, her voice stuttering and panicking just by calling her by the nickname she used to call her.
“Thank you, you look wonderful as always, all grown up… and…You don’t need to use formalities, we’re sisters, not strangers”
But really, strangers would be a good description of their relationship. They hardly knew one another.
“Well… Its lovely to be able to speak to you again. I bet you’ve been so excited for today!” Anna replied with an anxious smile.
“Excited isn’t the word i'd use, but I've been excited to speak to you” Elsa said kindly.
Anna smiled back and opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted as a tall auburn haired man bowed before Elsa, when he lifted his head he gave her a smile which showed his perfect straight white teeth that would make most women go weak at the knee’s.
“Prince Hans of the southern isles” He introduced, his tone of voice was somewhat arrogant. Elsa looked at him up and down as he gave her a flirtatious glance.
“I'm not planning on falling head over heels for anyone at this party, so your efforts are pointless. I plan on ruling Arendelle alone. But it was a… pleasure to meet you I suppose.” She responded, with a displeased look.
Anna’s eyes widened. “They didn’t tell you did they…” She said anxiously.
“Didn’t tell me what?” Elsa said, pretending the man in front of them wasn’t still there.
“Mother and father had arranged for you to marry on the day after your coronation… And prince Hans here is the one they chose…”
