Elsa got herself into a simple light blue dress and sighed as she did her hair and make up. She went against the idea of a wedding dress. This wasn’t a wedding to her, just another forced occasion that would impact her whole life, weddings were meant to symbolize love, and she definitely didn’t love him.
A familiar nervous knock sounded. “Come in!” Elsa called already knowing who it was.
The door handle turned slowly, as if the person was trespassing by entering. “Good morning Anna” Elsa said before the door was even open wide enough to see her. Anna peered in and looked around, she had never been in Elsa’s room before it was all she had wanted to do for years and now Elsa was rather welcoming.
Anna walked in and shut the door behind her, she wore a gorgeous ball gown, fancier than what Elsa was wearing by far.
“Good morning… You're wearing that for your wedding?” Anna asked as she looked at that plain dress, which of course looked beautiful on her but wasn’t really wedding style exactly.
Elsa nodded “I'm not putting effort in for this, and anyway, I only found out about it yesterday… and there was nothing that said I had to get all dressed up, just say ‘I do’ and leave.”
Anna sighed at Elsa’s stubbornness; she hadn’t changed from when she was little. “Well you look beautiful… Where is Hans?”
Elsa sighed and pointed her finger towards her en suite without taking her eyes off of Anna and just on cue the bathroom door swung open as he stepped out of the room in a gorgeous white suit with golden detailing.
Anna’s jaw dropped as she admired him with a small smile.
Elsa rolled her eyes and pushed Anna’s jaw back up with her index finger, Making Anna realize how obvious she was being, causing her to blush and look down at her feet.
“You both look beautiful” Hans stated with his charming smile.
“I would say the same back but I wouldn’t want to lie anymore than I have to today” Elsa said in her monotone voice.
Anna elbowed her and gave her a look as if to tell her to stop. “Thank you. You look amazing Hans, and Elsa knows it… She’s just…”
“Being herself” Hans chuckled, finishing Anna’s sentence. Anna first looked shocked at how rude they could be to one another on the day of their wedding but Elsa simply laughed, she didn’t seem offended at all. “Anyway… you two need to get down stairs, the wedding is starting in just five minutes”
Elsa took a deep breath and nodded.
Those five minutes sped past, all of the guests were seated and Hans was stood at the end of the aisle with his eldest brother by his side, they weren’t particularly close, in fact they hated each other but it was all just to look good to the guests.
The music began and the doors opened for Elsa to enter but she couldn’t move, it was although her feet were stuck to the ground. Anna nudged her to move forward and finally she did, stepping in time with the music, everyone rose to their feet and had their eyes on her.
Elsa kept an emotionless expression on her face as she stepped closer and closer to the man who would soon be her husband, and king of Arendelle.
After walking as slowly as she could she made it to Hans’ side and the ceremony began. Elsa avoided looking at him as much as she could; only giving him a couple of fake smiles when needed.
“Prince Hans, do you take Queen Elsa to be your wife? Will you love her, comfort her, honour and protect her, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?”
“I Do…” He said with a large smile, which seemed slightly fake, did he also not like the idea of the marriage? Well of course he wanted to be King, but did he too understand how stupid the whole situation was?
“Queen Elsa, do you take Prince Hans to be your husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honour and protect him, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?”
Elsa opened her mouth to speak, why would nothing come out? The idea of agreeing to ‘love him, comfort him, honour him, protect him..’ and the final part ‘As both as you both shall live’… They both were young, that meant they would have to put up with each other for A LOT longer than she would ever want to.
“Queen Elsa?”
“I-I do” she whispered, her eyes filled with tears but she refused to show any sign of weakness. Now she just wanted this all over.
She picked up the ring, grabbed his hand and pushed the ring onto his finger as quick as she could and forced her left hand towards him, looking away from it as quick as she could. Hans noticed how much she seemingly wanted to get it all over and done with so he picked up the ring and pushed it onto her finger gently, holding it there while the audience clapped and cheered with happiness. Hans noticed a single tear roll down Elsa’s cheek and suddenly felt his fingers feel cold, he looked down to see the ring coated in a layer of ice. No one else had noticed except him and Elsa. He stared at the iced ring in confusion and shock. “E-Elsa”
