Elsa squeezed her eyes closed tighter as even with her eyes closed, the late morning sun was too bright. Elsa groaned as she could feel her head spinning already. Hans chuckled quietly as he heard her sound of complaint. He was already awake, washed and dressed sitting in a chair that sat in Elsa’s room, looking out on the view of Arendelle. Elsa sat up briefly to turn onto her other side away from him, pulling the duvet over her head.
“Good morning Elsa, how are you feeling?” He asked, not taking his eyes off the book he had been reading while he waited for Elsa to wake up.
“I feel like I'm going to be sick and I can feel my heart beating in my head.” She whined.
Before Hans could reply, the bedroom door swung open as a cheerful, fresh-faced Anna skipped through the door. “Good morning you two! Well… Nearly Afternoon” she said with a large smile, mumbling the final part.
Elsa groaned once again causing Anna and Hans to laugh quietly. Hans put his book down and turned to face the lump under the duvet which was Elsa, he then turned his attention back to Anna, “I think she’s a little…fragile” He chuckled as Anna walked over to the bed, sitting on the end by Elsa’s feet. “If by fragile, you mean hung-over, then yes I agree.”
Elsa suddenly sat up and shot a ball of snow towards Hans, hitting him in the arm “I still remember you dancing with some girl! I know I said we should both socialize and whatever, but I am still your wife and you have never danced with me like that! You should be embarrassed by your actions!” She stated angrily, trying to ignore the headache that was making her incredibly dizzy.
Hans rubbed the top of his arm and pouted pretending the ball of snow had hurt him. “First of all, that wasn’t a girl who I was interested in the way you're thinking, she was a friend of mine from the Southern Isles… The only person who stood by me in fact so we decided to dance to her favorite song and catch up… Secondly, I've never danced with you like that because you always claim you don’t want to be near me any longer than required, certainly not long enough to hold a dance…”
“And thirdly…” Anna interrupted. “If he should be embarrassed about his actions, then you must be absolutely mortified!” She laughed. Elsa looked between the two of them with a confused expression, after the second glass of wine, everything became a blur.
Anna giggled and got up, pulling Hans out of his chair to re-enact the scene. Hans laughed and pulled Anna into the position as it ready to dance.
“Well my Queen, I should introduce myself” Hans said with a fake slur on his words, dipping Anna back in one arm, letting his hand hover over the material of her dress where the slit in Elsa’s dress would have been while Anna tried to hold in her laughter. “Prince Edward of Aria” he winked with a goofy, drunk like smile pulling Anna back up straight.
“You're quite the ladies man” Anna said, mocking Elsa’s drunk and flirtatious tone as the two of them burst into laughter.
The small scene they had performed bringing blurred memories to Elsa that made her cringe in embarrassment.
“Okay! Okay! Stop, I get it, I made mistakes! But maybe you shouldn’t have suggested I drink that much wine… I could have been worse” she claimed, trying to make her actions not sound so bad.
Anna shook her head “We haven’t finished! Cut to the scene just before you went to sleep!” Hans jumped onto the bed, laying by Elsa’s side as he watched Anna lean against the en suite bathroom door opposite the bed with the back of her hand dramatically rested on her forehead. “He doesn’t love me like I love him. I pretend I don’t because if I admit it I’ll look weak… I think I love him, he makes me feel like I'm not different. He makes me happy! It feels like no one else understands me, but he does” Anna wailed over-dramatically, acting although she was in floods of tears.
Elsa glared at Anna as her cheeks glowed red with embarrassment “I never said that. You know I don’t love him. I couldn’t think of anyone worse to spend my life with” She stated, crossing her arms, she knew that whether she had said those things or not, most of it was true, but she refused to even accept that herself, let alone share her feelings with them.
Hans raised an eyebrow and smirked at her, laughing as she squirmed with embarrassment.
Elsa huffed as she swung her legs off the side of the bed, climbing out and brushing down her nightgown. “Well I don’t know about you two, but I have meetings to attend, places be and a kingdom to rule” She announced, strutting into the bathroom, starting her bath. Once the bath began to fill up she walked over to the sink to brush her teeth, removing the rancid taste of wine from her mouth.
“Elsa… The meeting was at nine this morning, it is now twelve in the afternoon, I went to it for you” Hans said with a sigh as Elsa spat out the toothpaste and looked at him in shock.
“Before you shout at me, It was nothing interesting. Just simply a discussion about any future plan for Arendelle, but I said we should talk about it when the Queen feels well.”
Elsa made the sound of an annoyed sigh but nodded. “So it’s rescheduled for tomorrow, yes?”
Hans nodded in answer to her question. Anna yawned to signal how boring she found their conversation, “I’m so glad I'm not a Queen…”
“And what will you be doing with your day today, Anna?” Hans questioned.
“Well I was planning on going to the town… maybe even meet my own prince charming!” she giggled, looking at herself in the mirror, pushing a loose piece of hair back into her bun.
“Don’t rush into anything Anna!” Elsa reminded, calling from within the bathroom. Anna sighed as she picked up one of Elsa’s lipsticks and quietly applying it before Elsa returned. “You don’t need to mother me Elsa! Anyway I'm off!” She called back, hugging her brother-in-law.
“Good luck with your search” He said with a large smile.
Elsa peered out of the en suite to give Anna a quick hug “Bye..” She said as she watched Anna walk towards the door, Elsa squinted as she looked at Anna turn to say good bye one final time “Is that my lipstick Anna?!” She exclaimed, but she got no response as she heard Anna’s giggle and the door click shut.
Elsa filled her now full bath with bubbles, leaving the bathroom door ajar so she could hear Hans if he was to speak to her. She undressed and slipped into the warm, soothing water, the bubble filled water covering her like a blanket. She closed her eyes and relaxed, the room silent other than the occasional dripping of the tap and Hans turning the pages of his book he must have picked up again. Her entire body other than her head and neck was submerged into the water as she leant her head against the back of the bath tub, her muscles finally relaxing from the night before.
Elsa tried to relax as she heard a small creak, assuming It was maybe just from a floor board until suddenly she felt lips press to hers. Her cheeks became a dark pink but she kissed back until they finally pulled away. Her eyes fluttered open to see Hans leant over her, their lips inches apart., still close enough for her to feel his warm breath run down her neck, causing her to shiver. “Hans!” She breathed. He smirked at her and chuckled softly “I can’t see anything so calm down, this is to apologize for leaving you last night and I also wanted to test out my theory.”
“Test out what exactly?”
“If you hated me as much as you pretended, you would have pulled away and screamed… but if you loved me as much as your drunken thoughts revealed then…”
He was silenced as Elsa leant forward again, ending his sentence with a second passionate kiss.
