The man continued to look out of the window “So Elsa, how is married life? Better or worse than you first assumed?” You could practically hear the smirk in his voice.
“It would take me less than a second to have guards on you dragging you to the darkest dungeon in the entire kingdom, so if I was you I’d cut out the cocky attitude.”
The figure before them began to laugh “And where would be the fun in that? And anyway, I only asked a question”
Elsa clenched her teeth at the sound of his amusement “Oh, and did you forget about the part where you broke into our property?”
“No, no, I never broke in, I was welcomed actually, a young guard said he would inform you of my arrival, and anyway I should be welcomed with open arms” The man finally spun around to face the two of them that stood close to each other still in the door way.
“What do you want?” Hans growled as his eyes met his fathers, hugging Elsa in closer.
“I don’t remember you two being so close at your wedding, but I do remember you both being a lot more appropriately dressed”
Elsa looked down at the ground and bit the inside of her cheek as her blush returned.
“Oh don’t be so embarrassed sweetheart, I couldn’t care less” His father sneered.
“Do NOT call me that, to you I am Queen Elsa or Elsa. Nothing more. Now what exactly brought you back here?”
The man took a number of steps towards them, making Elsa involuntarily cower into Hans slightly. “Just to come and see my son and his wonderful wife, nothing wrong with that, is there?”
Hans’ eyes locked with his fathers, not leaving them for a second. “You're not welcome here, a man like you doesn’t even deserve our attention.”
“’Our attention’? Our? Oh, Hans, just because you married the Queen of Arendelle doesn’t make you important. Before her you were nothing, you were just the forgotten prince of the Southern Isles and if I hadn’t arranged that marriage she would have never even noticed you. You're lucky you have someone like me to help you actually be successful in your worthless little life. You were a mistake.” He chucked.
Elsa freed herself from Hans, finally standing for herself as she took a few steps closer to the ridiculously tall man, glaring at him as she felt a recognizable cold sensation run through her blood, her eyes darkening.
“What gives you the right to speak to my husband like that? He deserves to be loved, cared for and respected. Why do you insist bullying him, pushing him down and-“
“Queen Elsa, the only reason the two of you are together is because you had no choice, you couldn’t force war onto such an innocent and beautiful kingdom such as Arendelle.”
Elsa sighed in response “Yes, I wont deny the fact that your son here would not have been the sort of man I would originally have thought of as someone who I would choose to marry, but now I understand he isn’t just the arrogant prince façade he pretended to be, he is so much more, he is brave, strong intelligent and loving. He respects me and he understands me. But most importantly he knows how to love me, and I never thought anyone other than Anna would.”
Hans smiled softly, hugging her back into him.
“You think he loves you? No Elsa, he doesn’t love you, he loves the thought of being king, the thought of power and the thought of owning a kingdom”
Elsa’s small smile faded as thoughts filled her mind. As much as she didn’t want it to be true, she could just be a tool for him to get the power he had been craving from the beginning, and now he had the power maybe he was just using her to his advantage. It was possible, very possible in fact. She had already seen two different personalities of his since they met and he pulled them both off perfectly with precision. So was this ‘loving’ personality could end up to be as fake as he made out his arrogance out to be?
She cleared her mind from the thoughts that flooded into it, refusing to let herself believe it. He loved her and that was that, no matter what his father said, he was only trying to provoke them.
“That’s not true!” Hans protested, “I love her with all my heart, I've never felt the way I feel when I'm with her with anyone else. Just because you married mom for the same reason doesn’t mean I would. I'm nothing like you. I never want to be anything like you.”
“And I love him” Elsa stated, trying to keep her confident tone.
Hans’ father began to chuckle, the tone making him ever more intimidating. “Elsa, a woman with a frozen heart like you doesn’t know how to love”
Elsa’s breath caught in her throat. “What? How do you kn- It doesn’t matter just leave now or I’ll…“
He smirked triumphantly at her, noticing her fear increase “Or you'll what? Freeze me and let everyone know that you are the cursed Queen?”
Don’t forget to leave a comment etc! I’ll love you forever -m x
