Elsa finally raised her hands from her face to look at him.
“What?”
“Well I know you're not okay… but I mean…Ugh… I don’t know what I mean…” He said as he walked over towards her. He reached out to place his hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
“No!” She quickly jolted back. “I don’t want to hurt you” She said as she sunk back down into the table, covering her face with her hands. She jumped slightly as she felt a warm hand touch her shoulder. “You don’t need to try and pretend to care.”
He shook his head “No. Elsa, it all makes sense now, I had no reason to say what I said and I am deeply sorry”
Elsa shut her eyes and took a deep breath as she stood up and walked towards the door. She didn’t know what to say nor what to do… she had only really planned for when people would run away and hate her, not check if she’s okay and apologize. Elsa's legs were weak from exhaustion, this always happened when her powers acted up from a negative emotion.
“Elsa! Where are you going? At least let me help you?” He exclaimed.
Elsa looked back at the man she had just married. “I’ll be fine on my ow-“
“Please… you’ve had to struggle alone for years, but now I know, I want to help you”
Elsa sighed, she wanted to keep her tough girl façade up but she was too weak to argue so simply nodded her head and immediately he ran to her side and wrapped one arm around her waist to hold her up and steady her. He carefully kicked the door open and walked passed the guests of their wedding, getting strange looks but no one was sober enough to care. It was astounding to see how little the new King and Queen seemed to matter on what supposedly was their big day, they were just tools for a party. Hans finally spotted one of his brothers by the door, not one he was particularly fond of but he was better than some of them. “Tris!” He called, catching the tall, dark haired man’s attention. After a few second Elsa and Hans had got close enough to speak in a normal tone.
“If anyone asks where either me or Queen Elsa are, inform them that we shall be in her quarters, she feels unwell”
The man, who looked very similar to Hans, just dark brown hair, slightly taller and more intimidating, nod his head and winked, implying the two of them were just trying to get out of the party to begin to enjoy their first night together as a married couple.
Hans rolled his eyes and pushed passed his brother, Tris, making him chuckle and go back to the party.
“Just ignore him… I'm ashamed to say I'm related to him, what he said was uncalled for and…” Hans began apologetically.
“It’s fine, you don’t need to apologize for other peoples mistakes, you might not be my favorite person in the world but I wont blame you for things that are out of your control, I’d be a bit of a hypocrite don’t you think?”
Her intelligence baffled him, he had never met a woman who had said something like that to him before and she was right, he was so used to taking the blame for everything that happened within his family that it was just natural to apologize.
“You're implying that you think people would blame you for your…” he said as they walked up the stairs, his sentence trailing off as he didn’t know what to call this ice ‘thing’ she possessed without accidentally offending her.
“Of course I am to blame for my curse… I should learn to control it, it has to be someone’s fault and I'm the only one who has the control over it… well I should have by now”
Hans pushed the bedroom door open and helped her onto her bed so she was sitting on the edge of her bed.
“I disagree… you never chose to have your…powers… I refuse to call something so unique and incredible a curse, it’s a gift and you'll realize that when you learn how to separate it from your emotions.” He explained as he began to look through her closet for a nightgown for her to wear, doubting she would want to go to the so-called ‘party’.
Elsa laughed tiredly “Gift?” If it was such a gift her parents wouldn’t have locked her away like she had commit a crime. “Curse, definition: An appeal or prayer for evil or misfortune to befall someone or something…Or to invoke supernatural powers to bring harm to someone or something… As much as you wish to see the positive in it, it is a curse, a terrible one at that”
He furrowed his eyebrows at her “A curse is to bring harm to someone, you might be a little…well a lot on the stubborn and annoying side…” He teased, handing her a dark blue silk nightgown “But you, Elsa are far from what I would call evil, you never meant to nearly hurt me, Elsa you're not to blame”
She sighed in response “Thank you… I’d completely understand if you didn’t want to sleep in here tonight, there is a spare room next door if you would like” She murmured, changing the conversation from the ‘harming people’ subject that reminded her of the accident all over again. She began to reach behind her back to undo the dress that seemed impossible to remove.
He shook his and smiled warmly “I wouldn’t want to leave you alone, I need to make sure you're okay… and anyway, its supposedly the hottest night of the year tonight, so having a wife who’s room is like a winter storm is perfect” he laughed, making her laugh slightly back. “At least my powers are good for something… They're not any good for getting dresses off though” She groaned, still struggling.
“I’ll help you if you want” he stated anxiously, he only just began to get on his wife’s good side, and he didn’t want that to end.
She nod her head hesitantly and leant forward so he would get to her back easily. He began to untie the knot that held her corset together, being as gentle as possible. Elsa’s heart raced, as much as she knew what he was doing was nothing intimate, nothing she should feel uncomfortable with, it was the closest she had been with a man anyone in fact, and suddenly this was her husband.
“Try to calm down Elsa… nothings going to happen, I do not intend on doing anything more than undoing this damn knot”
She felt stupid for being so anxious so tried to play it off although she wasn’t “What do you mean? I'm not bothered”
Hans looked around as he watched frost grow up the wall.
“Okay… if you say so princess, well Queen” He laughed. Watching her change from her cute adorable real self back to her confident fake personality was rather amusing. It was as if she needed to prove the point that she had the control in their relationship, the control she never had over her ‘curse’ maybe?
Elsa held the front of her dress against her chest so as the dress was finally undone, it wouldn’t leave her feeling anymore awkward than she already did. Once he had finished he laid back onto her bed and grabbed the pillow nearest to him and put it over his face to cover his eyes “I won’t look, I promise!”
Elsa quickly got changed, not taking her eyes of Hans, making sure he wasn’t looking, once she was done she laid down by his side on the bed and looked at him.
As he felt the weight on the bed change he slowly pulled the pillow off of his face and looked at her with a small smile. He finally pulled himself out of bed and went over to the closet that Elsa had provided for him he pulled out some pajama pants and went into the en suite to get changed. When he came out he had his clothing from the day in his arms. He walked back over to the bed in the pajama pants he had chosen and topless, making Elsa blush. Hans notice and tried to contain his amusement.
“I hate you” she said jokingly.
“I hate you more” he teased as he returned to Elsa’s side, keeping a decent amount of space between them.
Don’t forget to leave a comment etc! I’ll love you forever -m x
