Currently, the life of this man was in Elsa’s hands, one small move and she could watch him freeze to death in front of her eyes, yet he seemed so confidently in control of the situation. She lifted her arm, ready and steadied her shaking hand incase he made any move to harm her or her husband.

“Leave or I’ll cut all connections between Arendelle and the Southern Isles.” She stated.

The man’s eyes widened at her words. “You can’t do that. You might be the Queen, but you have no power to break the agreements Arendelle's past rulers already agreed to. It states that you cannot just draw back from it. Maybe you should go and do your research before you go making such bold statements.” He responded a hint of anger hung in his deep voice.

“But you see, after being shut up for so long, I knew my day of being Queen would arise one day, so I have done more than enough research into the topic. The agreement I’m assuming you are bringing up for discussion is ‘The Proclamation of 1789’ Which does in fact state that ‘If one of the two kingdoms involved appears to be a threat, then the other kingdom holds every right to change or end the agreement.’ Therefore Mr Westerguard, I have made the choice to withdraw due to the fact that you seem to be threat to my kingdom in which I have promised to protect. Actually, I already have a meeting arranged for tomorrow morning with the council, so I shall discuss it with them then. It has been great talking to you, but you should probably go and find another kingdom dumb enough to fall for your manipulative idea’s, because Arendelle most definitely will not.”

Hans tried not to let the smug grin appear on his face, no one had ever out smarted or stood up to him before and the fact that his wife was the one who had, amused him greatly. The defeated look in his fathers eyes making his lips curl into a smile.

“You're an intelligent young lady, yet I truly believe Arendelle would be happier if their precious Queen Elsa was still locked up in her room. Just wait until the day your powers are discovered and watch how fear will destroy everything you claim to love.” With that final line the man left, walking swiftly passed the couple who stood just forward from the doorway. The sound of his heavy footsteps faded into the distance.

Elsa lowered her arm and pushed a piece of hair from her face before walking over to the piano, taking her usual seat, leaving enough room for Hans as she placed her hands on the piano keys and began to play the introduction of the music piece. Hans looked at her with a perplexed expression. “Are you not going to comment on what just happened?” He asked, slightly shocked by her lack of a reaction.

“Are you not going to teach me how to play the piano like you previously agreed?”

Hans shook his head, not taking his eyes off of her. “No, not until you at least explain the Proclamation of 17- something…”

Elsa slammed her hands onto the piano keys making Hans jump “That wasn’t part of your condition! You said you could decide what I wear and then you'd teach me, so sit and teach.”

Hans rolled his eyes and took his seat by Elsa’s side. “You're so stubborn.  But fine. After this you're giving me an explanation.”

Hans continued to teach her for thirty minutes, the two of them ignoring the events of that morning, yet it continued to run through Hans’ mind. How did his father know of her powers yet not tell him before they married? What was his genuine intention on coming to speak to them both? Had his father planned on using his daughter-in-law’s powers for his own use, yet Elsa had gone against his intentions? Did Elsa know something he didn’t?

“Hans! Stop losing focus! I actually want to learn this!”

He ran his hands through his hair “Well I'm sorry, but I just watched you win an argument with my father, which has left me with a crazy amount of unanswered questions.”

Elsa sighed “Fine. I hardly understand it myself, but I have concluded that he knows my powers through my parents, if I remember correctly our parents were rather close, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had shared that secret, especially when planning our marriage. The Proclamation of 1789 was just an agreement that Arendelle and The Southern Isles would stand by one another and help one another whenever required whether its trading, wars, economical problems, etcetera. But Arendelle has never really gained anything from it, we've never really needed help, the past rulers have managed just fine, only The Southern Isles have required our help, so I don’t think there was a problem with withdrawing from it. That’s all I know, I'm just glad you're nothing like your father.” Elsa said, resting her head on his shoulder when his arm wrapped around her. But internally she had a world filled with questions of her own, questions she never wished she would ask herself, yet it seemed the King of The Southern Isles had been slightly successful with his devious plan to mess with her mind. What if Hans was the manipulating liar he had claimed he was. What if Elsa was being fooled? She had never been loved before so to some extent she was naïve in this situation and an easy target.

Hans nod his head “I’d never want to be anything like him. I only want to make you happy, that is it. He doesn’t know how to love. He didn’t even love his own wife. This is all a sick joke to him, everything seems to be in his power, that is until now” He said with a small smile. “I love you so much Elsa” He said as he leant in towards her planting a kiss on her lips, but this time there was something different, there was no ‘I love you too’, she didn’t hug him back nor did she kiss him back.

Hans felt his heart sink in his chest as he pulled away, a feeling he recognized so well from his past. He looked into her glowing sapphire eyes, they looked confused and lost.

“Elsa. I love you. More than I have ever loved anyone in my entire life. When I'm with you, the lack of love I received before I met you doesn’t seem important any longer. My life didn’t begin until the day I met you. I know I began with the wrong intentions, but now my intentions couldn’t be any more clear. I intend on making you happy, loving you and improving your life in the way you improved mine. Please don’t let my manipulative excuse for a father destroy the happiness we finally discovered with each other. Losing you would pain me more than anything I could ever imagine.”

She nodded, breaking their eye contact and looking down. “I know, and I love you too.” The cold sensation returned as her fingertips regained the familiar tingling sensation. Frost and ice ran up the keys and across the piano, freezing it and the sheets of music entirely. “I guess I'm just not used to stressful situations like that where other people may suffer from my decisions. Because I have withdrawn from the agreement, that could cause a big impact on Arendelle in the future one day, that’s all.”

That wasn’t all. In fact everything she had just said was a lie. She was quite certain that Arendelle would never need The Southern Isles help, there were many other kingdoms ready and willing to save Arendelle if anything was to happen, she could not be less concerned about that. It was Hans, the man she knew she loved, but whether he loved her back seemed to be a completely different question all together. She wanted to tell herself that she knew him well enough by now, but that didn’t stop his father’s words from circulating her mind.
