Request: Hey I love your Tom Holland imagines and was wondering if you could do one where the reader is deaf and Tom learn sign language to communicate with her?
—————
One day I was walking down the street minding my own business but it's kind of hard not to when everything around you is full with sound and you can't hear any of it anymore. When I was six years old I went deaf. It was a tragic experience for my parents and me. They had to quickly learn Sign Language so I would be able to communicate with them. Thankfully it wasn't hard for me to learn it since I was only a child but it was still a harsh experience. I can hear sound in my head. The birds I hear when I was young or the sound of my parents and teachers and friends saying hi to me, then suddenly not being able to hear them say hi or hear the birds was a drastic change for me. A lot of the time I would cry myself to sleep knowing I would never hear anything again.
We were too poor to buy hearing aids and my dad was set in his ways in wanting to teach me how to learn to deal with the new impairment I had. He didn't want me to be dependent on something that could break and causing me to not be able to communicate. When I turned eight i was able to communicate fluently and I went to a school for deaf children. Which helped knowing they couldn't hear anything just like me.
When I turned sixteen my parents saved up enough money to get me hearing aids. I used them for quite some time, but then came to realize the world was too loud for me. I would turn them off most of the time unless I was communicating with someone who could hear.
So anyway I was walking down the street and I saw a cute guy walk into the coffee shop I always go to. I walked in and ordered my coffee and sat down. I noticed him staring at me and I smiled at him. When he saw me smile he smiled back and quickly averted his eyes.
Suddenly my friend walked into the building I greeted her with a wave and asked her to sit down on sign language. She sat down and we started to sign back and forth to each other.
"This cute guy keeps staring at me." I signed to her
She looked over and smiled "oh my gosh he's really cute! You should talk to him!" She signed back
"Have you heard my voice I sound like a dying seal."
"I'm sure it's not that bad." She shook her head
I looked over subtly and saw him staring at us in amusement.
"Oh great he thinks I'm a freak because we are signing to each other. Why does this always happen to me?"
She rolled her eyes "I guarantee you that's not the case."
"Yeah sure the girl who's flailing her hands around and laughing like a loud seal isn't going to weird him out just a little?"
She shrugged as the barista came over and gave us our drinks.
We come in so regularly he found out that we don't like turning our hearing aids on so he would come over and give us drinks instead of calling our names. He always got a good tip for that.
"Thank you." I muttered.
"You're welcome." He signed with huge smile. He must have learned that just for us because he seemed to be excited about it. He was only like sixteen, but he was very sweet.
I looked over to the cute guy again "he's still looking." I signed frantically to my friend.
"Stop worrying!" She looked over to him and he was face first into his computer now "come on let's go home."
I sighed and we both got up.
Everyday I would go into the shop and see him sitting there. He would smile at me and then go back to his computer.
For threes weeks straight he would be in the shop before me doing whatever he's doing on that computer.
Today was different. For the first time in three weeks he wasn't in there. I liked seeing him working away on his computers very morning but sometimes people have other things they should be doing and that's understandable.
I got my coffee and was about to walk out when he came into the building searching for something. He looked at me and smiled as he walked up to me.
"Hi I noticed you the first time I ever came in here and I saw you signing with your friend. I was taken back by it but I thought you were really cute..."
He signed it...he must be like me!
"So for three weeks straight I have been learning sign language to be able to talk to you. I'm Tom." He smiled
I was almost in tears "I'm (y/n)."
"Nice to meet you (y/n). When I first saw you I wanted to ask you out but knowing you were deaf I wanted to make it special and ask you out in your language. So (y/n) will you go out with me?"
I was crying now. Not only was he cute, he was sweet and kind and loving.
"Yes I would love too."
He smiled and hugged me which made me cry more. That was the first time someone learned ASL for me and at that point I knew I was going to marry him. I soon found out he was an actor. I had never seen his films because I don't watch tv or movies I'd rather read but when I found out he was Spider-Man, my favorite superhero from my favorite comic books, I had to watch his movies. We watched them together. And two years later...we were married and I decided since he learned ASL for me I was going to learn to say my vows and our "i do's" in perfect English.
Tom was so happy to hear my voice for the first time he cried and signed to me
"I love you and your voice...I love all of you."

I hope that's how being deaf works...I'm very sorry if I didn't portray it right.
Anyway does anyone watch the 100 or have read the books or both? Which do you think is better the books or the tv show?
I would say the books but I also am in love with the tv show.
