Peter and I have been dating for a few months now and honestly it's been the best six months of my life. It was our six month anniversary and I wanted to do something special since all of my other relationships didn't even go past the two month mark I thought this would be special. I had a card and a few things candies and movies he liked and I was going to give them to him when we hung out after school at his house.
I saw him across the hall with a frown on his face. I didn't understand so I tried to smile at him but when he saw me he put his hands on his head and walked over to me. My big smile turned to a frown.
"Peter...what's wrong?" I asked cautiously.
"(Y/n) we...I Uh..." he started
"Is everything okay?" I asked as I put a hand on his shoulder.
"(Y/n) you're a great person and I like you a lot it's just...I really like Liz..."
"I see." Was the only words I could managed to come out of throat without me crying.
"I'm sorry (y/n)..."
I shook my head and bit my quivering lip. "It's okay. Don't worry about. I'm fine." I smiled.
"Really? You're not upset?" He asked confused.
"No. Why would I be...at least now I can go out with..." I looked over my shoulder and saw Ned in the distance "Ned!"
"Ned?" He said utterly confused "you never mentioned him when we weren't dating. He's my best friend why didn't I know?"
"Because I didn't want you to get your feelings hurt but now that everything it out in the open I feel a huge weight off my shoulders, you know? Don't you?" I managed a smile knowing this was actually bugging him.
I didn't want to lie but I wanted him to know I was okay and Ned was the first guy I saw behind me.
"Yeah...uh yeah it's great." He said with a little awkward half smile.

"That's good I didn't ever think I would like Ned that way but...is that okay?"
"Why wouldn't it be?" He asked
"Because he's your best friend and we are now each other's exes I don't want it to be weird."
"Oh pfft no...no it's fine."
"Alright then I'll talk to you later?" I said smiling
"Yeah um...yeah." He said walking away scratching his head.
I just smiled till he was out of earshot. When he was I ran to Ned in a panic.
"NED!" I yelled
Ned jumped "what!? Is there a fire!?" He scrambled.
"What?" I shook my head "no."
"Oh phew thank god." He said wiping his forehead "Um what's up?"
"I need you to be my boyfriend."
His eyes went wide "but (y/n) you and peter-"
"He broke up with me for Liz and I told him I liked you and that I wanted to date you even though it's not true but not I'm caught in a lie and I need you to be my fake boyfriend to make him jealous." I said now out of breath.
He stood there wide-eyed and mouth open "that was a lot of words...but my ship can't die! I will help you. Operation: fake boyfriend is...a-go!!"
Me and Ned kept up the dating each other for at least two weeks before we saw a reaction from peter. We would hold hands in the hall, only talk to each other, sit by ourselves at lunch while he sat with Liz and all of her friends and they basically ignored him the whole time. He was aggravated with me and Ned. It was working like a charm.
I don't like lying to peter but it was the only thing I could do since I told him I liked Ned. Ned was alright with the whole fake boyfriend thing because me and peter are his ship and he thinks if he can make peter jealous it will bring us back together, but I don't know if I want peter anymore...
Three weeks after Operation: Fake Boyfriend started Peter came to my house.
"Peter?" What are you doing here?" I asked as I opened the door.
"Is ned here?" He asked scouring the living room as he walked in.
"Uh no he actually just left." Which wasn't a lie. He came over because he needed help with homework.
"Good...(y/n) ever since I saw you with Ned I felt this feeling. Jealous maybe. But it was aggravating. It is aggravating. I thought I wanted Liz but I know what kind of person she is. She's not the one I want...you're the one I want. (Y/n) I'm so sorry I hurt you."
"Wow..." I said not knowing what to say.
"You don't have to say anything."
"No no I want to it's just." I sat down on the couch and he followed "I lied." I said squinting and biting my lip.
"About what?" He said confused.
I told him about everything, Lying about Ned, Operation: Fake Boyfriend and how I still had feelings for him.
"You do?"
"Peter of course I have feelings for you...I love you. But-"
"But?" He said scared.
"I can't be with you...not now."
"Why? Why not?" He said tears welling up in his eyes
"I just- can't trust you right now. You broke up with me a month ago to be with another girl. What if you realize you don't want me again and I'm stuck in the same situation again...I'm sorry I just can't do that to myself." I said getting up and walking to the door.
Peter followed "(y/n) please..."
I opened the door "I'd like for you to leave."
He looked at me with tears in his eyes

"No uh yeah...I understand...I'm sorry. For uh for everything." He said and walked out.
I shut the door and fell to the floor. I loved peter, I still do but it's hard for me to be with someone who's not trust worthy when it comes to their feelings and I realized that when he came to my house that day. One day, not soon, but one day I know me and peter will be together. He just needs to figure what he wants and needs. He's the one I want but right now I can't be the needs. He needs to find his way before we can be together. He knows that...I know that...
