If You Must

All That We Are Is Snapping

Baz and I are sitting at lunch when I finally snap. I think it's the fact that we're just sitting there, not talking to one another, looking at stupid wedding notes, that pushes me over the edge. Or maybe it's the fact that this is the twenty-second slice of cake I've eaten in the past four days. Or maybe it's the fact that Penny keeps sending us on useless errands (which we're currently taking a snack break from).

My fork clatters noisily to the table and I drop my head into my hands, pushing my fingers roughly through my hair.

"That's it. I can't try another flavour of cake!" Baz looks up, one perfect brow arching.

"Who are you and what have you done with Simon Snow?" he asks, sounding like he's only half joking. I stare at him pleadingly.

"These errands are driving me insane, Baz." Golden electricity crackles through my fingers, snapping through my hair. Baz leans over, kissing my cheek. One arm wraps around my waist and it feels so good. We've barely even kissed for the past three weeks. It's fucking maddening.

"Me too." His breath is warm against my skin. "Let's start having a little fun with them, then." I kiss his jaw.

"How do you mean?"

"I mean," Baz arches his neck a bit, "Let's get the errands done quickly, and just dick around the city for the rest of the day. Bunce won't even know." I pull away to smile at him, reaching up to tuck his hair behind his ear.

"You're a genius, Basilton. Have I ever told you that?" My fiancé grins wickedly at me.

"Once or twice..." He leans in close, nuzzling his lips against the base of my neck, "But keep saying it anyway." So I do. In a whisper close to his ear as he kisses my neck.

"You're a genius, Basilton."

EXCITING NEWWSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! (with a long ass backstory :) )

So a little over a year ago, my English teacher got me and two or three of her favorite female students together for a girls club at lunch time-- which we later dubbed 'Tribe'. A few months later, we learned about a grant  for women's groups with big ideas through a company called Muse. The grant sounded really cool-- I mean, come on, free money for the price of a cool idea? We were so in! And so we decided to write something-- something that would empower women and question the status quo, and just generally be amazing.

That summer (summer of 2017), we began to write. Since then, four other girls and I have worked tirelessly to bring you.... (drumroll, please....)(more below)

THIS H*CKER RIGHT HERE. That's right, I made (well, helped make) a freakin' magazine. It's called Rouge, which is French for red (which I say solely for pronunciation reasons). Unfortunately, we couldn't print enough copies to sell it due to money reasons (we spent $100 on food and $650 on printing). HOWEVER, you can read a PDF of it on our website (link in bio)! The website is also chock-full of exclusive content, including stories that didn't make it into the first issue. We also have an Instagram ( @rougemagazineofficial), or you can contact us at rougemagazineofficial@gmail.com. My current Instagram is private, but I'll be making a public one soon for writing purposes and for the art I plan to sell on Redbubble this summer. There will be a second issue, once we actually start writing it and get money to pay for printing. Hopefully one day we can sell it so all of you can have physical copies!
