Chapter 10

(Shannon's POV)

'We get to see your mom again this week Maggie girl. Woo hoo!' I said excitedly after receiving a call informing me that I could visit Miss three times a week. I chased Maggie around until we were both tired and plopped down on the couch for a nap.

'Who's that Maggie?' I said as Missi came outside.

She tugged the leash out of my hand and charged at Missi, bowling her over. Missi didn't mind, she laughed as Maggie bestowed kisses on her.

'Can I help you up?' I chuckled.

'Please.' She giggled.

'Any kisses for me?' I asked after I pulled her up.

'Hey handsome.' She replied and kissed me.

'How are you doing today?' I asked as we sat down.

'Good. The music is making the biggest difference in my mood.'

'I'm so glad babe.'

'I'm doing so well I might be released next week.'

'What? Really? That's awesome!' I said and hugged her.

'Mom's coming home!' I said to Maggie and she barked eagerly.

'You're so precious.' She said to Maggie.

'What about me?' I asked.

'You are too.' She said smiling up at me.

'When next week?'

'Maybe Friday.'

'I can hardly wait to get you home princess.' I said and kissed her.

'Me too.'

'So, ah, everything down there's okay?'

'Such technical terms Shannon. For someone who probably knows women's bodies better than they do I'd think you could use big-boy words.' She snickered.

'Ha ha...is that a yes?'

'Yes'

'We should walk around a little. I think Maggie has ants in her pants.'

'I don't think it's Maggie pants you're referring to Shannon, she doesn't have any. I have a visual of you and Maggie sitting on the couch in matching sweatpants though.'

'Aw Maggie, I told you not to tell.' I chuckled.

A couple people asked to pet Maggie as we walked around, and she brightened up a lot of faces.

'Where does Maggie sleep?'

'Ah, with me. I don't think she likes her doggie bed.'

'Uh huh, and obviously you're a real sucker.' She said grinning.

'It started out as one night.'

'You're a real pushover when it comes to a pretty face Shannon.'

'Are you picking on me?'

'I would never.'

'All right! I think a homecoming celebration is in order then.' Jared said when I called to tell him the good news.

'I think she should settle in first and I'd really like to be alone with her for a while.' I said.

'You're probably right. I think this is where having Maggie may prove beneficial.' He said.
