(Shannon's POV)
'Hey, how's it going Mom?'
'Very well. And you?'
'Great. I have some news you've been waiting a long time to hear.'
'Okay, go ahead.' She said cautiously.
'Missi and I are getting married.'
'Oh my God, finally!! I think she's been the one all along Shannon. That's wonderful dear.'
'Yeah'
'And when is this blessed event taking place? Soon I hope, so you don't have time to change your mind.' She snickered.
'Very soon. What are you doing on the 27th of next month?'
'That soon! Oh my, it won't matter what I might have planned. I'll be front row and center.'
'I knew you probably would be. Missi will be sending out the invitations in a couple days.'
'Won't you be on tour though?'
'We'll be on break.'
'Such a rush. Is there something else you'd like to tell me?'
'No Mom. That's not happening.'
'One can always hope.'
'You're gonna have to rely on Jared for that.'
'If you say so dear.' She chuckled.
I didn't want to get into that conversation with my mother of all people. I'd never given her an in-depth explanation of what happened to Missi before her breakdown either, only that she'd had one.
'Well, I've gotta go. Jared's on the warpath as usual.'
'I'm so glad you called. Give everyone a hug for me. I love you.'
'I love you too Mom.'
(Missi's POV)
'Yes Nanette, I appreciate that but when I said simply elegant I meant just that. I don't want a circus. It's only going to be a few family and friends, and definitely no press. I would think that would make your job even easier.' I said as calmly as possible.
Nanette had visited the inn and taken it upon herself to come up with an elaborate plan for transforming it into a garish affair, and my patience with her was wearing thin.
'Okay. Get back to me when you do have an outline of what I told you I wanted and we'll go over it. Oh, Shannon just walked in. I have to go now.' I said and hung up despite her rambling on.
'Does this nearly empty box of chocolates have anything to do with how your day went?' Shannon kidded.
'That would be an accurate assessment. How was your day?'
'About as good as yours, but without chocolate.'
'Have you told Jared about the change of plans yet?
'No babe, give me a day or two.'
'Well I need to know soon. The invitations need to go out. Are you sure you want me making all the decisions for the ceremony? Don't you want a say?'
'I chose the girl and trust she'll make it lovely.' He said leaning over and giving me a kiss, quickly assisted by Maggie of course.
'Okay, but don't bitch at me when you see the pony rides.' I joked.
