(Shannon's POV)
The drive to Chelsea's seemed to take forever. I still had a bad feeling Missi left me despite Brittany's claim otherwise. The absence of Missi's car when I whipped into the parking lot at Chelsea's did nothing to squelch my fear. I knocked rapidly on Chelsea's door.
'Shannon, what a nice surprise!' Chelsea said.
'Where is she?' I asked anxiously and stepped inside.
'She's not here. She got adventurous and went to see her tree.'
'She left me...didn't she?'
'No Shannon. If anything she wants you more than ever.' She said, her eyes suddenly darting across the living room and back again.
I glanced over to see what her distraction was, but the only thing appearing questionable was a garment bag hanging in an unusual spot. She eyed me nervously when I looked back at her, making me wonder if I'd missed something. I took another look and slowly realized the white silky material protruding from the bag very likely meant Missi and I were still very much on track. Despite wanting to uncover my find I felt any move at that point would be the first in a sparring match with a very shaky Chelsea.
'Don't you dare Shannon!' Chelsea said emphatically, blocking my view and temptation to reveal more of the garment in question.
'I take it that's her dress for the ceremony, and that guy doesn't mean anything to her?' I said smiling as feelings of happiness and relief washed over me.
'Yes Shannon. She loves you, and only you. Whatever he meant to her was done and over with long ago. Her only fear is telling you what happened that night will end your relationship.'
'Geez Chels, am I really such an ogre that she's afraid of telling me something like that?'
'I hadn't made the connection until now, but maybe your reaction to another man's display of affection in the past is what's tripping her up.'
'Well it's not gonna play out that way again. I fucked up then, but there's gonna be a happy ending this time.' I grumbled and hurried out the door.
'Where are you going?'
'To find her.'
'She might be on the way back by now.' Chelsea yelled from the doorway.
'I'll risk it.' I replied before jumping in the car and taking off.
'C'mon Miss...please be here baby...please.' I said as I waited at the entrance to 17-Mile Drive. 'Fucking tourists.' I grumbled at the long line of cars in front of me.
Missi wasn't at the Lone Cypress observation area even though her car was. I figured she'd gone for a walk, so I waited around. The more people came and went, the more concerned I became about finding her. I was glancing over the landscape when I happened to spot her. Her presence was somewhat inconspicuous as she sat with her back propped up against a tree, but she must have thought she was totally undercover since being in that location was strictly prohibited. I waited until everyone left before venturing beyond the barriers to join her. I hadn't realized she was asleep until a thick branch snapped under my foot and startled her awake.
'It's just me Miss.' I said softly.
'Shannon?'
'Yeah babe.'
