'Who are you texting?' I asked Missi.

'Inez. I want to know if Brittany's okay.' She said.

'And smooth things over for Jared?' I asked grinning.

'Maybe that too.'

'Thought so.' I chuckled.

'Oh no.' Missi said when her phone pinged a few minutes later.

'What?'

'Brittany and Inez went out last night and Brittany hasn't come home yet. Oh my, I wouldn't have either.' She chuckled and handed me her phone.

'Who is that?'

'Jesse from The Neighbourhood.'

'Who?'

'He's a rock star.'

'Oh. He looks pretty young.'

'He's going on 30. A perfect age for her.

'Whose side are you on?'

'I'm not on anyone's side, but right now I'm thinking turnabout is fair play and may the best man win.'

'Yeah, my best man to be exact.'

'And my bridesmaid. I'm just glad she isn't sitting around moping.'

'It's obvious she isn't.'

'I'd love to meet him, especially if he writes their songs. If that's the case, I'd love to pick his brain.'

'I have the feeling he's had hard times is all. A lot of the lyrics suggest as much.'

'My little touchy feely one.' I said giving her a squeeze.

'Yeah, and you're not.' She said sarcastically.

'I know I am.' I said groping her breast.

'Heel' She chuckled. 'I told Inez to have Brit call me when she returns.'

(Missi's POV)

'I take it you're okay then,' I asked.

'For the most part...and I think you can guess which part.' Brittany said.

'I think I get it. Jared's not faring well. He'd really like to talk to you.'

'Let him talk to himself.'

'Okay. You're totally over him and this isn't a rebound thing. I get it.' I joked.

'No, I'm just...I don't know. I don't like thinking it's a tit for tat thing, but I can't deny that didn't sway me a little when it came to leaving with Jesse.'

'I wouldn't think it would. So how deep is he?'

'He goes deep enough...get it? And he didn't have any play toys.'

'Oh my, well that's great. Ah, Jared feels really bad. Don't you want to talk to him at all, maybe let him explain his actions?'

'No, it must suck to be him.'

'Brittany, you can't tell me you're over Jared in a matter of days.'
