After recovering from my nightmare the following morning, Talon offered to drive me back home. I figured out that he had flown me to the other end of the small island of Newfoundland, and it was a 7 hour drive back to my hometown Mount Pearl.

I hopped in a sleek, black expensive looking car. We drove in silence for a few minutes as I thought on some of the more recent answers Talon and his mom had given me earlier.

As it turns out, I will get my own set of wings, those of a phoenix might I add, at midnight on my birthday. We weren't 100 % sure when that was, because we now had to face the fact that I might be adopted. I did and didn't want to find out what my mom had to say when I asked her if I was adopted. Both my parents have grey eyes and my mom dyes her hair so often I always thought it was naturally red. Looking back on it, I realised that was were the similarities ended between me and my parents.

Becoming nervous, I chewed on my lip. I just couldn't accept what they were telling me.

'Well you better learn to, and fast.' The little voice in my head told me. 'Your birthday is in less than a month...'

If I couldn't believe this myself, how was I going to tell my friends?

"Shit!" I exclaimed. The car jerked, and Talon looked at me with wide eyes.

"What?" He asked looking alarmed.

"Today is Sam's birthday, and tomorrow it's Belles! What if they are like us too?" I was panicking now, looking at the clock we had 12 hours until midnight.

"If he is, he should know by now. Something painful will began to happen to his body, and it will get worse with every hour. For me I became deathly cold, I was shaking the entire day. I seriously thought I was dying the closer it got to midnight." He paused looking at me worriedly. "Luckily for me, my birthday was in the winter. I had to go out in an ice storm in order to properly, um, grow my wings."

I fished my phone out of my pocket and hit his speed dial number. "I'm calling him."

Talon nodded, "Good idea."

"Phoenix?" Sam groaned. Gosh, he sounded terrible.

Forgetting all birthday wishes, I turned serious. "Sam? Are you okay? Stupid question, it sure as hell doesn't sound like it. Tell me what's wrong."

"I don't know, I really don't know. I woke up this morning feeling off, and now, everything hurts. It's only getting worse and my parents are still in the Caribbean. Where are you? Could you please come be with me? I've cancelled the party I was going to have for my birthday." He sounded disappointed.

"This is going to sound really strange, but I'm on the other side of the island right now. I'm on my way back now and I know why you're feeling the way you are. It's really complicated and I'm going to have to explain what your parents didn't have the time to." I rushed after I hear my phone beep. "My phone is dying, I'll try to get to you as quick as I can. Stay put and don't call any doctors!"
