"Talon?" I queried.
"What?" he asked exasperated.
"Are we there yet?"
"For the fifteenth time, no."
"Actually it's the seventeenth, I've been keeping track." I said nonchalantly. We'd been in the car driving on cruise control for the past 6 hours, during which time me and Belle had switched seats at a bathroom break. I was now immensely bored, as both Sam and Belle had fallen asleep. Annoying Talon by rambling like a six year old was my sole source of entertainment at this point; I had killed my ipod an hour ago and forgot my charger in my suitcase.
"Does it matter?" he sighed. Oh he was really getting annoyed now, he wasn't even getting mad at me anymore.
"Yes, it does in fact." I said like a stubborn child. There was another moment of silence, as he refused to have a conversation with me. "Hey, Talon?"
"Hey, Phoenix?" he mocked.
"Shut up," I said playfully, "I actually have a serious question this time." he turned his head to look at me, looking sceptical. "Eyes on the road!" I screeched. I was still slightly paranoid in cars, even though I hadn't been awake when we had crashed last time. Re-breaking your elbow is not on my list of fun things to do in life.
"Simmer, don't boil." he rolled his eyes at me.
"Did you really just say that?"
"Why yes, yes I did." he said in all seriousness.
"I think all this driving is getting to your head." I told him, while shaking my head at him.
"That's besides the point, now what was your question that was actually serious for once?"
"Oh, um, what would you say if I told you I forgot?" I said sheepishly. He gave me a playfully murderous glare. "Just kidding," I added hastily, "I was just wondering, could you tell me more about what it's like after you've changed?"
"What do you mean exactly?" he asked slightly taken aback.
I tapped my chin. "Well, what's it like to fly?" I wondered wide-eyed.
"It's absolutely amazing. You are literally free as a bird, there is no limit to the amount of space you can go around in." he explained, eyes shining. "The wind rushing around you, the breathtaking view, and simply just gliding on a current."
"I can't wait until I have my wings." I said excitedly. "Oh but then I have to learn how to fly." I realized as my face fell. I could just picture myself looking like a helpless little bird learning how to fly.
