~Facing it,always facing it,that's the way to get through it. Face it.~
-Joseph Conrad. So today is the day I say goodbye to Cape Town. I'm usually not one for change but I'm keen for this change.
I am currently loading my suitcases into the car while my parents lock the house.
To put everything into context, we sold our house. We are currently on our way to the airport. I'm from South Africa, Cape Town.
Now don't get me wrong but I love my country. I just need a fresh start. Also, my dad has to relocate to this new town, Woodlands for his work.
Since I got top in my school for my academics,I got offered a schlorship to Valley View High School. I am very grateful for the scholarship, as this school is a private school and they really offer a lot in their music department. It's a bit annoying, as I only have one more year of High School left.
Yeah, I'm seventeen turning eighteen years old. My name is Milea Jordans. Daughter of Alec and Claire Jordans.
I am interrupted from my thoughts when I feel a light rub on my back. "Millie, I know this is a big step for you. You've overcome so much, how bad can a new high school possibly be?" I sigh and hug my mom. "Yeah, all I want to do is excel in my music and academics. I just want to fit in, and not stand out."
Her dad chuckled, "Sweetie, you'll be just fine." She nodded and got into the car. She sighed, "Can we grab food on the way?" Her dad sighed, "Mil, you just ate breakfast." She shrugged, "I'm a growing girl." Her mom laughed.
Fortunately for us Customes went smoothly. Soon enough we were on a plane.
My dad squeezed my leg as it jumped up and down. I'm nervous, but at the same time excited. I decided that some sleep would do me good.
-10 Hours Later-
I'm awake, I go in a clockwise then anti-cloclwise direction with my neck. I sigh as I realised that I slept in a funny position. Now my neck is telling me to face the consequences.
My mom glanced at me, "You need some food." I nodded, "How long is our flight?" "Eighteen hours. So we've got eight more hours to go." I groaned and ran my hand through my now sticky hair.
I ate a good meal which brightened up my mood. I then decided to watch a movie. Which unfortunately I did not get a chance to finish, and I fell asleep (again).
-Landed-
I was violently shaken by my dad who was looking irritatedly at me. I yawned, "What?" He sighed, "Milea, we have landed. Now get your butt off the seat." I got up and stretched, and walked really slowly. Just because I'm that extra, and I really wanted to annoy him.
Despite me trying effortlessly, it worked. He was now mumbling the numbers from 1 all the way uptil 10.
I shrugged at him and walked off the plane. Then I quickly grabbed my luggage and then we frantically got into an Uber.
In nanoseconds we arrived at our new house. I gasped as it was so beautiful. It was a two story house with everything that you could possibly imagine.
Quickly I ran to the door and walked inside. I dropped my bags on the floor and did a little 'ohmygosh' staring.
My dad gave us a tour around the house, man did it get better and better. I then made a wise decision to unpack all my clothing.
I was still on the first box when I lost my momentum and sighed. I rolled my eyes at the rest of the boxes that were crowding my room.
Fortuanly for us, my dad shipped the huge things like our beds and furniture a week before we left. Just so that there's some sort of order in this house.
I dart down to the kitchen when I heard my mom shout, "Theres food!" My mom is the best, she ordered pizza.
After our delicious dinner my mom glanced at me. "Millie, I think you should go to bed now. Then I'll help you decorate your room tomorrow? If you want, we can go site seeing."
I nodded, "I'd love that." Dad was in the study room on a phonecall with one of his colleagues assuring him that he has arrived safely.
My mom and I tided the kitchen and I smiled at her as she kept gushing on about Valley View High School.
Best part is, I get to wear uniform everyday. So at least I know I do not need to impress anyone.
I quickly freshen up and hop into bed. It's crazy to think, that at some point I had everything I could possibly ever need. Until it all got taken away from me.
(A/N: Hiiii, it's me again😊😄. So I'm starting a new story!!!! Hope you guys enjoy it❤).
