It's the first snow of the year.
Underneath my eyes are frozen tears.
It'll be my first Christmas spent all alone.
Nobody by my side.
No music over the deafening cries,
Of the voices inside of my head.
A cup of hot cocoa for myself,
No other drink for anyone else.
As I walk away from the warmth of my home.
A blanket of white,
Covering my backyard nice and tight.
It's the place where our angels fell.
Snow angels in the night.
A night embroidered with Christmas lights.
But this night, I'm all alone.
Our snow angels in the snow.
That'll melt away before we know.
But who knew, last year was the last time?
The heat of summer tore us apart.
The snow angels melted away into the past.
I guess my winters will no longer be warm.
Flashbacks of two snow angels on the ground.
But now there's only one for me to count.
My snow angel, too, shall miss yours.
Now, it is the dead of night.
Christmas Eve and festive lights.
And suddenly, a knock on my door.
"Open the backyard door",
Said the note on my floor.
In a handwriting I thought I'd no longer see.
Tearing my way down
To 'our' backyard in my hometown.
Two snow angels on the ground, greeting me.
And now, a third angel shows up.
Shows up in this place, after many months.
Crying, as she softly smiled.
"Merry Christmas, and I'm sorry my friend.
But perhaps, could this winter start what last winter had to end?"
And as my heart melted, my tears fell.
Two snow angels in this big town.
But now I'd never doubt,
A winter has never been so warm.
