Book: Locked Away
Chapter 20: By The Might Of The Moon
Word Count: 2021"You trapped her in the house?" Xander asked with raised eyebrows. Apparently, ever since he had been trapped in the tomb, Elena had been acting more reckless and had even tried stealing the moonstone, so they had to keep a barrier up so she couldn't leave the house. It was for the best. Though he could imagine she must be fuming right now.
"It's for the best. Trust me. Elena is on a martyr tear that rivals Stefan's greatest hits. You should be glad the witch and I are even getting along. I brought you this." Damon spoke, opening the bag and shoving his hand in. Damon was always coming over and visiting, which Xander was glad of. The less time he had to spend with Katherine the better. "Care package: candles, lanterns and... lunch." He pulled out a bottle of blood.
Xander's throat tightened as he looked at the liquid he wanted nothing more than to chug it all. He frowned and crossed his arms, turning his head down in anger. "If you give that to me than I have to share it with her."
Damon looked past Xander to see Katherine leaning against the wall with a smirk. "Yeah..."
Katherine rolled her eyes and stepped forward to join the conversation. "You two are surprisingly calm, considering Klaus will hunt you down and kill you if you mess with his little plan."
"I've been dead before. I got over it." Damon shrugged, not all worried about Klaus when he had to worry about getting Xander out. "Once we deal with this moonstone, we'll figure a way to get you out." He was respecting Xander's wishes in putting the moonstone first.
Xander sighed in relief. "Just don't worry about me too much. All I care about is keeping you safe... keeping everyone safe." He said honestly.
Damon smiled at him before looking down at the bottle of blood in his hands, wishing more than anything he could give it to the other vampire. He didn't want Xander to go through the torture of starving again. No... there was no way he was leaving Xander in the tomb long enough for that to happen.

Xander sat on the ground, kicking the dirt around with his foot and and wrapping the blanket Stefan brought him around his shoulders. Katherine kept trying to steal it so he had to keep it on him at all times. She had been non stop trying to get on his nerves.
He had hidden himself away, hoping he could have some time to himself but she found him. She always ended up finding him sooner or later. "So we're fasting now? We're so pious. You've gone without blood before. Do you remember how painful it was? I mean, I know desiccation in theory, Xander, but in reality, isn't it much worse? Your heart still beats, struggling to pump whatever blood remains. When it's gone, your veins rub together like sand paper. It's excruciating. You would know."
He slowly looked up at her with a dark glare in her eyes. "Yes, I've been through it before. I know exactly what it feels like but you want to know the silver lining? I get to see it happen to you to and I can't wait to see you in that excruciating pain."
