"So, John Gilbert gave me this to kill Elijah."
Xander looked up from the couch, giving a quick, polite greeting to Alaric who just entered the room. He stood up, walking over to Damon who was unrolling the dagger from the protective cloth surrounding it.
"Said you have to dip the dagger in the remains of an old white ash tree that dates back to the Originals, if there's any truth in that." Damon carefully picked up the dagger and handed it over to the hunter.
Alaric took it, looking it over in his fingers. "So you think it's a setup?"
"We don't want to leave anything to chance." Xander said, eyes tracing over the dagger before looking at Alaric. "John isn't the most trustworthy person."
"Guy's a weasel. Wouldn't put anything past him." Damon agreed with him. He turned around and headed for the bar. "What are you up to today, Mr. Saltzman?"
"Well, Jenna and I were supposed to go to her family's lake house, but somehow, we both got roped into doing this Historical Society thing at the Lockwoods." Alaric answered.
Damon poured himself a bourbon and offered one to Xander. The younger vampire shook his head and said, "no, thank you." He wasn't a big fan of alcohol or what it did to him. He'd rather have full control of his actions and not do something stupid that he would regret... like when he had killed that poor, innocent girl. "Isn't Elijah going to be the guest of honour?" He asked Alaric.
"Yes." Alaric said. Damon smirked, a mischievous glint coming into his eyes and the hunter gave him a look. "Tell me you're not gonna kill him at the tea party."
"No. That would be stupid." Damon answered. Alaric gave him a sceptical look. Xander would stop him from doing that anyway because it was stupid and he wasn't about to let something bad happen to Damon because he just had to try and kill Elijah. "I want to know his endgame before I kill him, but I do think it's time Elijah and I officially met."
Alaric didn't look amused and turned to Damon, "please try and control him."
"Hey, nobody controls me." He took the dagger from Alaric and tapped him in the chest with it. "Although I might consider it, if you give me a kiss." He puckered his lips out towards Xander.
Xander laughed, looking down at his hands and away from Damon's piercing blue eyes. "Nice try but it's still a no." But Damon would still do what he said and he had to admit, he liked seeing Damon work for it.

Xander went to the Lockwood mansion with Damon by his side and it's wasn't long before they found Elijah, talking in an American accent and they went to the study room where they would be able to talk in private.
