Chapter 26
After that long night that has been so upsetting at the end, it didn't end by my least expectation. In the midst of all those torturous scenes that I've encounter, I finally laugh at some jokes my sister Vyara made.
It's been two days, and all I did was to do my etiquette class and learning some rules here. Eating breakfast here at my room, quite bored, I decided to call my personal maid Cohleen for my plans this day.
"Cohleen—"I didn't finish when my personal bodyguard, Gabriel, came instead of Cohleen. I raised an eyebrow.
"What in the tremendous cat you're doing here?" I clamor. He's not in his usual uniform today. By the looks of it, his long white sleeves scream for power and shines with gold of dashing lodestone.
"Cohleen is just staying outside. I need to approach you with something." He simply said while rubbing his eyes. Clearly, he's just from sleep.
"Do tell."
"I'll be gone for a three days for some personal matter, My Lady."
"Okay---what?!" I nearly choke and spoil my milk at my comforter. I was hesitant at first but I just can't let him! Who would guard me and..
"I just let Manong Istong guard you instead of me. I just recently talk to your Mother about this. And I hope you'll agree."
I was holding my chin, trying to look I'm thinking intensely. Why would I let him have his day off when other person working here doesn't? It's quite unfair to others. Hah! I'll have that as my excuse.
Why do you sound desperate to have him over, Vasilka?! Just allow him to have his short leave! Just three days!
I should have said that, but instead I said this,
"Let Cohleen come in." I calmly said while trying to sip my tea. I was nearly covering my face but I still see irritation in Gabriel's face. After a while, he's still staring at me.
"But—"
"Call her this instant!" I tried to sound annoyed. I stop myself from laughing when I saw how Gabriel murmured under his breath.
When I didn't see Gabriel's back, I started to laugh while covering my face under a pillow. But then, I heard someone let out a small cough. I immediately shifted from my seat and fix myself.
"Good morning, My Lady. What is it that you want?" Cohleen started but my eyes are fixed at Gabriel's annoyed face at her side.
"Ready the things I'll need for today's shopping." I said with authority. She just nodded and gestured to go out but Gabriel still remains standing in my room.
I raised my finger. "Oh, I forgot something."
Gabriel looked at me like, what is it now?!
"Yes?" Cohleen asked.
"Bring my personal bodyguard with us, if you've forgotten." I said. She looked over at Gabriel's annoyed face and looked at me again.
"Are you doubting something, Cohleen?" My voice rose a bit. When words are done processing in her hearing, she was frozen in her place and immediately shrugged her shoulders.
"No..." She directly said. I gesture my hands to dismiss them. Apparently, Gabriel stayed. A small smirk came across my face.
"So?" I asked with an eyebrow raised.
"So?" He impersonates me. "As far as I'm concerned, I have a substitute coming at you in five minutes."
"Is that how you talk to me?" My anger rose. But, actually, I was just joking around.
