At Pop's, Seline held her arm out for her sister to slide into the booth. She rounded the table and sat across from her then waved her hand for Pop to take their order.

"A big boat of french fries, Pop, and chocolate-strawberry milkshake to share." She smiled at the man with his white boat hat and matching apron.

He nodded and left. Seline turned to her sister and grabbed her hand from across the table. "What's the name of that behemoth of a captain on the football team?"

Veronica flinched at her sister's sudden movement, then exhaled and sat back pulling her hand from Seline's.

"Why do you wanna know? You already made him look like an ass today. That's all my classes were buzzing about. 'The cooler Lodge sister giving Reggie a hard time'."

Seline sat back in her booth, scrunched her nose playfully. "Ronnie, are you jealous that I've made a name for myself here already?"

Veronica was silent for a moment before rolling her eyes and nodding. "You know what? Yes. I mean, a little. You've been here for a little less than a month and you're the cooler Lodge? I stuck up for a number of girls in my second week but you're the one people can't stop talking about?"

Seline kept a flaccid face, offering a kind smile to her sister as Pop slid a milkshake glass down the end of the table with two straws. She held a finger out to stop it on its chilled glass bottom, took a sip from her striped straw.

"It's not my fault I'm hot gossip. I rode in on a motorcycle for Christ's sake. I made my way to the bad side of town first." Seline stared at her sister, lips locked in a grin around her straw. "Besides, I don't think you could handle the staring."

Veronica leaned forward in a whisper, "That's because your skirt is a little on the skimpy side."

"You don't say," Seline said, mouth full of melting milkshake. "That's just the way I bought it too."

Ronnie scoffed and sat back again, crossing her arms before her chest. "You are so inappropriate."

"But you tolerate me, Ron. Come on, you tolerate me." Seline stuck her cream-covered tongue out to her sister. Veronica folded her lips together to hide a smile and started to giggle.

"Okay, yes. I tolerate you."

"Good," Seline said, swallowing what was left in her mouth and licking her lips free of milkshake. "Now, tell me about this Reggie."

"Oh no, you're not trying to go after him, are you?" Veronica's face quickly went sour with disgust.

Seline looked over her sister's shoulder to the door opening with a ding. "Might not have to."

Veronica furrowed her brows then looked over to the door, seeing a handful of football players file in wearing their signature Letter jackets. Seline lined a nail between her teeth as Reggie, the tallest of the bunch, sauntered past the bar and to the tables.

The rest of the boys pulled free tables together in the middle of the restaurant, then sat down and started getting rowdy.

"Behemoth is right," Veronica said, a grimace on her face.

Reggie sat on the far side of the table, in Seline's eyesight. He propped his feet up on the table, rested his arm on the back of another occupied chair and put on his cool front. He laughed loudly, pointed at his friends goofing around and hooted when Pop brought over an order of fries and burgers.

Seline stared on, intrigued by the boy's actions. He wasn't her type, not rugged or dirty in appearance, but he had a demeanor that made her a little fuzzy inside.
