Seline crossed her arms at the Sheriff in front of her. "And this tip told you FP was hiding something?"
"Yes ma'am." Keller grabbed the brim of his hat and pulled it from his head. The moonlight shined through his silvery locks and Seline felt a bit of fire inside. "Can we enter the home?"
She stepped aside, letting Sheriff Keller in but standing firm again with his police buddies behind him. "Only you. I'm sure you can find what you're looking for alone, Sheriff."
The man stopped short in the kitchen, turning around to Seline as she waved him away through the house. "Go, we don't have all evening."
Keller exhaled in frustration and did as he was allowed to. He moved the couch, opened the closet, looked under cushions, behind the television before moving to the next room. Seline stood waiting at the front door, listening to Keller shuffle through the bedroom.
He soon came back with a handgun, held by a blue nylon glove. Keller raised a brow to Seline. "Did you know about this?"
Seline's spine went cold but didn't let it show as her face went to stone. "It's mine. My father, the crazy Hiram Lodge, purchased a handgun for his oldest daughter before he went to jail. Is that such a crime?"
Keller narrowed his eyes as he held the gun out to one of his police buddies. "Only to your father. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to confiscate this."
Seline shrugged, "It's okay. I barely used it anyways."
Keller raised a brow to Seline, a kind smile growing on his lips. "Well, I'm sorry to disturb you, Ms. Lodge."
She let Keller pass by her again, donning his hat as she took an inhale of his scent. "Bye Sheriff." Seline waved her fingers at the man as he took the gun from one of the policemen and confiscated it in his truck.
Seline shut the door slowly, then stood behind it as she exhaled heavily. Her heart pounded in her chest and she tried to steady it with her palm. That was too close, way too close for her liking.
She didn't know if FP actually did it, actually killed the Blossom boy everyone gossiped about. Seline almost didn't want to know.
Another knock at the door, Seline opened the door again to Keller again. She raised her brows at the man. "Is there something wrong?"
Keller smirked, "Trying to hide something, Ms. Lodge?" He produced the gun from his pocket and placed it in her hands. "We can keep this a secret, can't we?"
Seline grinned down at the gun in her hands then at Keller. "Of course. Thank you." She leaned in and pecked at the corner of the Sheriff's mouth. "You have a good night."
Keller took a step up, quickly taking off his hat. "Um. Would you mind coming to the station with me? Just to ask questions, of course."
Seline set the handgun on the kitchen counter, "Sure. Let me clean myself up."
She shut the door behind her again, then scrambled to look through the drawers of the kitchen for a piece of paper and pen. Seline scrawled a note and placed it under the handgun then raced to clean herself up, putting on the same shoes from the party.
She opened the door again to Keller standing casually on the steps, one hand on his hip and the other holding his hat to his side. "I'm ready."
FP,
You've got some explaining to do. -S
Seline sat across from Keller at his desk, holding a warm cup of coffee. He had his hat on his keyboard, sitting back in his chair as he rested his notepad on his thigh.
