As Dumbledore had instructed, she followed the map and lead herself to the hidden detention room.

'Knock three times and say the words "sugar quills are bad for your teeth but good for the happiness" furthermore wait for the three knocks in return then you may enter'.

She did such things and the door opened with a light click, before she pushed it open. It creaked creepily and the smell of dust and soot filled her nose. Walking in the dark room she found Albus Dumbledore lighting a fire with a wave of his hand.
"Good evening, Sir" She said. He turned , his blue eyes reflecting the red flame.
"Good evening Horatia, I suspect our other criminal will be on his way any minute, please do have a seat"
He offered her a chair at a dusty table. Smiling she walked over meekly, taking her seat with gratitude and crossed her fingers together settling them on the table.
"What are we doing tonight, Professor?" She asked as he walked to a chair of his own, across from her.
"Oh I believe you will find it most educational" He said, glint of mischief lingering on his face.
Three knocks hit the door. Followed by the password. Horatia watched as Dumbledore raised his wand, levitating a gauntlet that sat in the corner, making it knock the door and undo the lock again. It then levitated back to his spot. Horatia wondered why he didn't just use a simple unlocking charm but Dumbledore never really did anything that was easy or simplistic. The door fell open, a lanky boy entered nervously.
"Headmaster Dumbledore?" He said.
"Over here Mr Lupin"

Horatia's eyes slightly widened as Remus came into frame , the orange hue from the fire covering his uncomfortable tall stance.

"Hello" He said.
"Hello" Horatia answered shyly. He took a seat next to her, both turning to Dumbledore after a moment.
"Yes, I was right you do know each other, well all the better, I'm sure you patched things up during the note gifting?" He looked to Horatia.
"Yes sir, I hope to believe we are acquaintances now" She smiled. Remus looked at her surprisedly.
"I, I do to" He said after recuperating.
"Well, I believe we can start the work now, Horatia I would like for you-" he paused, lifting from his chair and walking to a shelf, grabbing four or five books. "Read through these and tell me what you think of them and if they're worth being placed in the library, right your reasons down here" He pointed to the quill and parchment next to her.
"And me Professor?" Asked Remus.
"Here is three books for you, just do the same as I've asked Horatia, but will you also go through this music, I know you are a piano man yourself and play very beautifully , there is an instrument of over there, if you could run through the music and see if it is suitable for the choir, it would be a great help" He motioned the piano in the corner of the room. He stayed standing, looking down at the two who were staring back at him as if he'd grown another eyeball.
"That's it?" Horatia coughed. "Sir" she quickly added.
"That's it, although you will have to attend again and do the same for the next few weeks , on this day , on this hour, same thing, am I understood?" He questioned gently. Remus and Horatia nodded.
"Good, then I'll leave you to it" Dumbledore nodded. Remus was tongue tied unsure if  he needed to ask a question, his hand raised but no words seem to come out, her well , she just smiled and nodded. Reading was her favourite hobby. Dumbledore left the room and but a awkward silence to his place.

Remus and Horatia hadn't a clue what to say to each other but her habit of reading minds got the better of her.

"This is were I knew, I gaze over to him, seeing he was skinner and covered a lot of scars with mediocre magic. I knew then that something was wrong. His mind was spinning , repeating over and over his worry of me finding something out. I knew from then on he suffered a great deal; I also knew from that day, that RJ would be a very important person in my life, he changed as he grew but three things remained, even till the day he died"

They sat in silence while they read. Both realising the other was a fast reader as well and took time to move their eyes from their pages and study the opposite student. Horatia being the more discreet of the two, thinking steadily over when and how she should do it; Remus a Gryffindor through and through was bolder in the sense and was caught every time he gazed. A half of an hour past, both nearly finished their first book. Horatia sighed, catching his brown eyed gaze again.
"Have you never seen a girl before?"
"Yes obviously, just not one like you..before..you're very-"
"Weird I know" She scoffed sinking deeper into her stare.
"I was going to say intimidating" He answered, watching her blue eyes flash to him.
"Me?"
"Yes"
"Me? Intimidating?" She frowned lowering her book.
"Very much so" He lowered his book too.
"Wha-how? Your twice my height, you could toss me over your shoulder before I could speak" She laughed.
"You don't have too speak, you just have to look at people and they feel it" He answered.
"Feel what?"
"Not sure what to call it, just they feel it, I know Maurders did, your big sister does the same thing, McGonagal stare Sirius calls it, one that stops you from running and doing anything. Don't need to be bigger than you, you give them one look and they know they're in trouble" Remus shrugged afterwards. Horatia listened, tilting her head-amused by it all.
"Is it a good thing?" She asked.
"Very much so" He picked up his book again. She did too and they read on for a while.

She gazed at him differently her eyes soft and content.
"Will you play for me?" She asked. Now both finished the first book. He placed his book a side and turned to see the piano. Slightly dusty and aching to be played. He cleared his throat, stretching his fingers. Standing from his chair he made his way over to the instrument-she watched as he sat down and gave her a look before he began. Needing some reassurance she nodded her head with a smile to him. Taking it he cricked his knuckles before placing his hands on the cold ivory keys. Taking a deep breath ;he began to play.

She'd never heard such beauty before. She hadn't heard a piano being played this beautifully since her da was still alive. Remus reminded her of her own father. All lanky limbs and wonder filled eyes, a quirky dark humour and brilliant of all his great gentle heart. Her dad always felt un-belonging, she wished he'd met Dumbledore. Mr McGonagal was nothing much, simple man with a simple life. Meeting her mother changed that forever, having her sister just after changed it again and finally Horatia being born changed it to its finale form. Living out his life as a chap with no spirit that had a compass pointing North just trusted his heart. Remus John Lupin was much the same. Both him and her father had one thing in common , feeling a debt to those who love him.
Her dad felt he had to work everyday just to be good enough for her mother, when to Horatia it was her mother who needed the work. Remus fawns over his friendship with the Maurders believing it was his greatest achievement as if he didn't deserve good friends.
She stood from her seat and sat next to him. He finished the piece of music he was playing and turned his head to look at her.
"Bravo" She clapped.
"Thank you" He answered sheepish. She let out a small smile seeing his reddish face. A thought popped in his brain. Digging his hand in his pocket.
"Did you know their is a  neurotransmitter, serotonin, it's a mood-lifter. One chemical that causes the release of serotonin into the brain is tryptophan, found in chocolate. And that's why when you eat chocolate it makes you happy" He pulled out a chocolate bar. Breaking of a strip of squares and handing to her. She took it gladly.
"That's very science-y for a Gryffindor" She smirked taking a bite.
"Well your pretty sweet for a Slytherin, guess we both don't live up to house expectations" He shrugged.

"Every week, that day, that place, during school, we met there. Our safe place that nobody knew about. Our home. Where we left everything behind and became something different from what the majority asked as to be. During the days we wouldn't speak but then that night came along and we read book after book, he played song after song, teaching me a few thing or two. It was then when we sat together eating chocolate at a dusty old piano during detention that I knew  he was different. One night came along when we were older when he asked me a question"

"Horatia?"
"Hmm?"
"What am I to you?"
"I established it long ago, that you're my brother and I love you"
"Good"

"There was no complication to us, it was just Remus and Horatia a Slytherin and a Gryffindor, brother and sister, we thanked Dumbledore from that day on, RJ was my rock for so many years and now so many years have passed since I last held him, my only brother"
